Louisiana Ranked in both Coaches and Harris Poll

We're not really "ranked", sure it's nice to receive votes but we're still a long way off from the top 25

Moral of the story: We are not ranked yet. Tired of these threads, until it actually happens. We can't lose sight of what we still need to do. Got two games left folks... ULM and/or South Alabama could sneak up on us... let's not let that even come close to happening. Finish this thing out and we may get ranked to finish the season... until then.. it's not happening.

As a matter of fact, YES, I HAVE seen us receiving votes this season. My point was that even with a week OFF, and being in this _____ conference, we are STILL being noticed. Here is a list of 1-A schools with at least seven wins who did NOT receive a vote in the Coaches' Poll:

Boston College
Va Tech
Texas Tech
Iowa
Michigan
Brigham Young
Marshall
Rice
Tulane
North Texas
Ball State

Hopefully, if we take care of business in the next few weeks, we WILL see a ranking with a number beside it.

Haha didn't mean it like that... It's just funny threads keep popping up saying we are ranked, I click them... only to find out it's just more of us recieving votes. (Which don't get me wrong, I'm definitely excited about) but, it's just a buzz kill to see a thread titled as us being ranked and then to realize we aren't.

If we win our last two regular season games, I say we come VERY close to a top 25 ranking. If we do that AND win whatever bowl game we're in, regardless of which one and who's the opponent, I say we WILL be ranked top 25. If we are ranked top 25 before the bowl game, we might get bumped even higher with a bowl win. If we are ranked top 25 before the bowl game AND our opponent is top 25 NIU or some other top 25 opponent, and we beat them, we def go higher IMO. Can you imagine how attractive the NOLA Bowl with both the Cajuns and NIU ranked in the top 25 would be? What kind of crowd? What kind of hype? We would have a BCS sized crowd at a non-BCS game. Oh man, the possibilities...........................

Beating ULM and South Al in itself won't get us into anyone's top 25. Should you have several teams in the 20-25 position not win the one or two games left, then we may have a chance in the Coach's Poll. Having to jump from 32 to 25 points by coach's is a huge leap without beating someone with some cred, which LM and SA don't have. I can see Duke (24) loosing to UNC, Either USC (23) or UCLA(22) will drop out as well, they play each other this weekend. TexA&M (21) is a probable to lose @ Mizzou, and Notre Dame at #25 will lose to #8 Stanford. So, out of 20-25 its probable that 4 or the 5 could loose, opening some ground for teams 25-30 to jump into the top 25. Then you have a few of these schools in the top 25 are playing for conf. championships, which will eliminate a few as well.

I see UL getting into the final ranking if they beat a NIU or someone whose a mid level team from one of the better conferences. Beating Tulane does nothing to get us into the top 25, beating NIU or Maryland, or almost anyone else, gets us there.

I have read enough "rankings" on microfiche to know they used to only rank the Top-10

Now in increments it has gradually moved to include the top-25 vote getters.

Someday just getting a vote will rank you.
