LAKE CHARLES, La.-Louisiana’s Lady Cajuns tennis team defeated McNeese State 7-0 on Monday to move to 2-1 on the season.
The Lady Cajuns swept the Cowgirls in all singles and doubles matches.
In singles play, Julie Mazinova topped Meri Gol Alamo 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1, while teammate Kim van der Horst helped the Cajuns cause by winning 7-6, 6-2 at No. 3. Bridget Markovich defeated Maria del Rocio 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4, and Mia Gordon bested Petra Gudelj 7-5, 6-0 at No. 5. Marina Ruiz de Gauna rounded out the sweep with her 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 6.
In doubles action, Mazinova and partner Molenveld defeated Alamo and Victoria Martinez 8-4 at No. 1. Markovich and Angela Dangond bested Rocio and Gudelj 8-3 at No. 2, and Gordon and van der Horst posted an 8-3 win over Jongoneel and Efimenko at No. 3.
The Cajuns will next compete on Saturday, Feb. 9 when they take on Sun Belt Conference opponent Arkansas State in Jonesboro, Ark. The match is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
