Am i reading this right- we only pocketed $40,000 last year because of the sharing rule?
Yes, that's why I'm pulling for asu or Troy to go to godaddy if we end up in Nola. Hopefully they at least break even
Money sharing will be the same in any other conference
But it's a bigger cup because of those 6. Unlike the Hoax those 6 will without a doubt have a bigger fan following than the Hoax. Losing money on a Bowl game is not all that unusual. But losing money on a Bowl in your own backyard?!!! Come on, there is no way they should not have been able to contribute to the conference coffers rather than draining it of resources.
No doubt FIU loses money, FAU depends on where they are placed. Same for UNT. Same could likely be said of us. Outside of national powers in the big5, most teams will only make money if placed in regional Bowls.
And keep in mind that in addition to Bowls we will also lose money on our minor sports having to travel to Podunk hard to get to locales like Boone and Statesboro. In football we get to travel to Moscow (not Russia, that would be easier). . In CUSA, we would be in a divisional format with reasonable travel in all sports.
In addition, don't bet on all of these CUSA teams being down for long. Changes in AD and Coaches can improve their on field performance. Nothing will change the locales of Boone, Statesboro, Moscow or Troy.
SUCK IT, HOAX !!!!!
