Gumbo has been gone for decades. Anyway a gator named gumbeaux vs a St Bernard named Gumbo is too different to worry. Not too keen on roux.

Roux is reserved for recruiting ... rec-roux-ting.
"It all begins with the roux"
Oooh, oooh, lets side line the thread.
The Cajun Man was awesome.
I never had a problem with Cajun Man even though I can remember many that hated him just as much as the pepper. I never had a problem with the bulldog coming back and the live bulldog on the sidelines. The chicken was always fun even though it had nothing to do with our school brand. I really never hated the pepper, I would like it to be done a little better but don't have a big problem with it. But no matter what is decided on not everyone is going to like it and this argument will go on
Texas A&M Aggies.......Mascot = Collie
Tennessee Volunteers.......Mascot = Blue Hound
Louisiana Cajuns.......Mascot = Catahoula (State Dog)
By not using the Tri-fleur and going with the lone FDL, people think we are copying the Saints.
By calling our stadium The Swamp, people think we are copying Florida.
By having a Gator Mascot, people will think we are copying Florida.
All we have to do is embrace those things that identify with the State of Louisiana and Acadiana ike the Tri-Fleur and the Catahoula that make us unique. We are making this way too hard.
The Catahoula is the best idea.
