The tri FDL is about as ugly as it gets.

Where is the Fideaux red gator avatar? Can somebody post? Would make a perfect costumed mascot. Louisiana and Florida - both with gators and the Swamp. Puts us in pretty good company. The ONLY 2 schools in the country. We can have 2 gators, one named Louis and the other Ana. Just helps to better capture the Louisiana name.
Don't think Clemson and LSU are hurt by both being the Tigers and both stadiums called Death Valley, not to mention both fight songs are Hold That Tiger. Come to think of it, doesn't every school with a tiger mascot have that same fight song? I know Memphis does.
Gorgeous dog.
I'm sold.
No more talk about copying Florida with Gators and Swamps, we aren't desperate. I see the single Fleur as a copy of the Saints as well. Tri-Fleur is just as bad. Stick to Ragin' Cajuns. Go retro with Cajuns script for special home affairs, or even break it up with the old Acadian flag once in a blue moon. This isn't hard.
How awesome is it when Auburn sends there War Eagle on the field, or Texas has Bevo on the sidelines. We need to have gumbeaux the live alligator brought to the stadium every home game. Even Florida could not pull that one off.
I know we do not like LSU but you have to think what they do right. They set themselves apart by bringing a tiger on the field and actually have a habitat on campus. We need to do the same thing we have a swamp on campus with a Alligator we need to use it.
Also we need to have a Red Gator as a mascot leading the team and fans to victory.
That's great...for them. They ARE the Tigers.
We ARE NOT the Gators.
The bottom line is that all schools that have a group of people for a nickname (Cajuns) either have a physical representation of this group of people for a mascot or have a mascot with historical ties to the school or the state that school represents.
At least Louisiana is the only state that has the Catahoula as the official State Dog, and the history of the breed is fascinating. The breed was developed specifically because they were found to be very good hunters in the Swampy marshland of South Louisiana and for their fearlessness.
It just fits.
People associate South Louisiana with gators. When they think of Cajuns they think Swamp People. You talk to people from other states they think gators are living on the side of the street. We represent Cajuns, and when you think of Cajuns it is (Gators), (Food), (Family), (Atmosphere). Cajun football games should be all of that and more.
