How often do you hear coaches hate their city? Of course they love the city they are in... And they will love their next city just as much.
It's mrs coach that loves this city. Mrs coach has already lived in Starkville and didn't like it. If you think mrs. Coach has no say so you are crazy.

While I hope like hell that HUD would stay, I think the female Spouse component will have zero effect on the decision!!!

What was Hud's salary last time Mrs. Coach lived in Starksville?

Add a few commas to that salary and she may all of a sudden like Starksville a little more.
Just saying, I agree with Boomer on this one.

Apparently you don't have a smoking hot wife 15 years younger than you. When does any career decision not involve your spouse? Especially one that involves uprooting your family?

Mrs. Hudspeth will have a lot to say about where her husband ends up. In this case happiness trumps money. I have it on good authority that there are 5 locals with very deep pockets that are willing to match lower end SEC offers. Hud should be here unless a Florida level school makes a run at him.

He's not leaving here for another mid-major, especially Louisville. Look for him to be interested in a high end SEC job, and the only exception to that would be Vanderbilt.

"Happy wife, happy life". Terms like this stick around because they are true!

I think he will stick around to see his plan, tier 1-3, come to fruition! He seems like a finisher, not someone to "let go of the rope".

Well that's good if true. The natives are restless in Gainesville. I did some board watching tonight to see if Hud's name came up. That I saw, it did not. One that did was Kerwin Bell, former Florida player currently the head coach at Jacksonville University. Fingers crossed they go in that direction if they make a change. If we can weather the storm of Mississippi State and Florida and get Phase 1 built and Phase 2 started, we have a real chance at keeping Hud here for a long time, at least in my opinion. If he's got some of the best facilities in the country and boosters keeping everyone happy salary-wise, the sky's the limit. Watch out when we get the call to a conference he can recruit to.

Should we mention or use the term HUDfayette---I kind of just typed it last night and I don't know if it would be objectionable or a rallying point!!!!

I think Hud City (instead of Hub) fits the scheme better. We could include an ownership stake in his contract extension and rename it the Hud City Diner!

A high end SEC job means you have the funds and facilities to challenge or compete for division and national championships. That list would not just include Vanderbilt, but Miss State, Kentucky, Ole Miss for certain. None of these programs can match Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Texas A&M, South Carolina and Texas A&M dollar for dollar. Missouri and Arkansas fall above the bottom four.
