Default Complete 2013 college football hiring and firing season primer

This list is notable for who is NOT on it. No Mullen. No Muschamp. Maybe Illinois or OK State would be a threat.

The only thing we have to worry about is USC & Texas. If either of those schools take a Southern Head Coach (or even OK ST) then I could see a trickle effect created where a Hud-potential job opens up. I think Miss St is safe for this year.

I say 79% chance Hud spends 1 more year with UL.

I talked to Hud last might at the grocery store. He told me if I thought this years team was good, then wait til next year - then he proceeded to start talking about McGuire ! So yes, I think he's here for one more - HOPEFULLY !

If Hud keeps getting more players like McGuire he might just create his dream job right here at LOUISIANA

He speaks like this is his baby, it will take his dream job to take him away. If we can come up with a little bit more money and sign him to a 5 year deal, I would feel more comfortable

I feel this way also ... he has taken ownership of this program, school and city. If we keep upgrading his contract, and make it incentive laden, I think it gets tougher to leave.

He could be our Bill Snyder; but only if the admin and boosters follow through with their plans and promises.

"little more" money? 2-2 1/2 mill per year for schools that will court him...will we go there?

For example when they talk of UConn:
    2. athletic budget - by far the largest in the AAC (actually more on-par with "Power 5" schools) and UCONN should be expected to pay around $2M-$2.5M/yr to its next head coach rather comfortably. _Compare that to what Syracuse, Rutgers and BC are paying their new coaches, and UCONN trumps them;_

Hammer as you and Z saw what Terri and I saw in the Bill Snyder Stadium I think is doable here in Lafayette---I remember after the game that HUD spent a lot of time with Coach Snyder and I have no idea but that same thought came to my mine that this (UL) could be his baby!!!! I tell you one thing that does worry me ---Why did it take so long for ECU to finally jump up ---They had 55K in the stands and they couldn't get into the ACC or the Big East---MY thought is that it was fear of letting them in and I think that same thing could be holding the Cajuns back---We have held our own and surpassed home attendance of all the non big5s around and that for the most part with bad football!!! HUDfayette!!! UL-HUDfayette!!!!

Great analogy with Bill Snyder, we just need a better conference as everyone knows.

Sources tell me that if HUD should leave after this season, which very unlikely, then Ed Oregron's name is on the table, if he does not get the USC job.

    ... and that's a lot of if's
