Reading between the lines.......Mobile doesn't want to let NIU get away....Tulane will not face embarrassment in the NOLA bowl....CUSA is going to stick North Texas in New Orleans.

Given the above rumors, if the good people of Shreveport come calling with an invite to play Boton College, Miami, or Georgia Tech, I think we say Yes to that, invade and conquer north Louisiana, and get a major program scalp to hang in Hud's office.
Rice in NOLA could still be a possibility. I am hoping North Texas could win it all and end up in Memphis. I think it would be a good matchup against them, but neither fans will want to face each other so soon. (same with MTSU). Louisiana Tech has a shot at 6-6 too with Tulsa and UTSA coming up...terrible matchup but the dome would be packed.

They'd better come calling soon. We're a wanted commodity and unless there's some major money changing hands between bowls, New Orleans gets to pick from eligible teams before GoDaddy. Knowing that we won't repeat LaTech's mistake of "waiting for something better," we're going to take whoever's first to offer us. I'm not talking from any kind of juicy info, but basing the timelines on years past combined with the season we're having and a good atmosphere to come at the game, I've got a very strong hunch that New Orleans will invite us against Monroe. Too much adds up for them to not do that. While I like the idea of playing a ranked/big name opponent, it's going to have to come with a huge payout to be a better opportunity than selling 40,000+ tickets, booking every hotel room in town, and winning a 3rd consecutive New Orleans Bowl. Like I said, for that to not be the case, there has to be some major wheeling and dealing going on behind the scenes and I don't know if the GoDaddy or Advocare bowls have the kind of scratch and/or pull it'll take to make it worth passing up another impressive New Orleans showing.

+1 I'll happily trade my gumbo for a meat pie and a signature win. Sometimes you just have to grit your teeth and do what is best for the program. If that means I have to endure Shreveport for a weekend to make sure that I am present when we drop half-a-hundred on "The U" then so be it.

funny story - an old client of mine from France named Jean Paul who has a very think French accent was once called "Jean" by my secretary. His response (in angry thick French accent) "MY NAME IS JEAN PAUL. NOT JEAN. UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT, I'M GOING TO CALL YOU B**CH!"

There has been a lot of talk about money that we would make now....but what about the ROI we. Would get for stepping up and out to go against a BCS school. Sure bowl money is great...but what about the bump in quality of recruits, what about sucking it up and going to Shreveport to support the Cajuns and setting another attendance record (btw it's held by LSU).

Big time programs and their fans step up to the plate and take on the best out completion out there. I don't think There is any other way that we can get crack at a third BCS team and have a chance to redeem our selves from the first two games.

If this comes through I am going to be there with freaking bells on...Bama, LSU, South Carolina, A&M, Norte Damme, Mizzou, Georgia, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Miss State, and many more big boys have gone to this bowl. They have all said thank you for the invite and we will make it the best experience for you as possible.

You show up Shake the man's hand, look him in the eye and say let get it on!!!

As long as we win next week which I think we will, there will be no La Tech situation. We would be conference champs and have to be placed in a bowl. If we want to wait at that point and see what other games might be out there, we can without fear of being bowl less.

I-Bowl wouldn't be bad. Not a bad drive up I-49. I would recommend staying in Bossier City though, thats the better side with nicer casinos and the Boardwalk on the River is a pretty neat place with a Buffalo Wild Wings, Joe's Crab Shack, and Hooters facing the river. Bass Pro Shop and all kinds of other places.
They also have a Ralph & Kacoo's there.

I like the I-Bowl to play a bigger opponent and a change of venue.

We could also garnish up some following up there maybe.

Is there an Applebee's and chili's too?

I thought @ beginning of season that NO Bowl would be a great place to go bowling this rebuilding year but Even if we are eligible, I think there would be too many CUSA teams w/ a better record picked ahead of us. Besides I don't think it would be a great match up this w / Tech. We're not very good. Would be very interested to watch y'all play NIU or Rice. Hey what about NIU in the IBowl?!?! That would be ironic ....especially if Tech happens to be bowl eligible ; )

Indy is only better than "NO with a bad opponent" if Indy has a "big name program" for us AND we negotiate a good deal with them on seating, tickets and payout. I'm not talking about the "fan's perspective". I'm strictly viewing it from our program's perspective.

A ranked NIU would be interesting to consider for Go Daddy for our football program. Sunday night at 8pm in an open stadium in Mobile on a cold January 5th... not so interesting to me personally.

I think we'll end up in the NO Bowl. I just hope it's Rice or Tulane... for some crowd fun with a regional opponent. That would be a refreshing NO Bowl change for us.

On the Sun Belt board a North Texas fan is saying they are absolutely going to get the HOD bowl. We all know internet boards are the absolute best source of truth yet to be revealed by the universities. So no to North Texas, TooLame too lame to face the Cajuns, leaves FAU, and Rice. I like Rice.

Agreed. It's not the best case scenario of getting NIU in New Orleans, but it's still a good situation and I think it's our endgame this year.

That would be ironic (and a nice setup), but I doubt the pcs would fall into place for that to happen.

  15. UL 1984, 1999 . . . . Re: Louisiana a possible play for AdvoCare V100 Bowl

No, LTU R are a couple of wins away form qualifying and will be favored in neither game. They do however have Tulsa at home, and are a 3.5 point dog. If they can pull off a minor upset, they have a lot to play for in the season finale. UTSA is a dog to North Texas by 8.5 points, and TooLame is a 17.5 favorite to take it to the UTEP Miners in El Paso. Not sure TooLame has scored 17.5 points in their last three games combine. Checking them out, they have scored 34 points in their past three games.

The Hoax are a 3.5 point dog to South, AKA USA or South Alabama, they prefer South now. So now it is both South's and UL's job to make sure the Hoax are sitting home the rest of the year.
