Thread: How do we get involved??

  1. #1

    Default How do we get involved??

    Besides my season tickets in football and basketball, I am looking for other ways to get more involved with the athletic programs. Anybody know how you get involved with any of the booster organizations we have? What about the CAF? I've heard about the Cajun Athletic Foundation but I don't know if its even fully in place as of right now. Anybody got any suggestions on where I can devote some time and energy to help the athletic foundation?

    A Cajun Athletic Foundation is being formed. I think we will hear more about that in Feb. Have you considered joining groups like the QB Club or the Rebounders Club?

    Yes, I've heard of these organizations but truly know nothing about them and how they work. I know it sounds nieve on my part but I know nobody in these programs to receive any info from and have just never gone out and researched them. Who do you contact to join either one or both?

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Karren Hays is president of the Rebounders Club. Her email address is shown below;

    khays@teche-electric.com

    If you contact her at that address, she will be happy to give you all the information you need about the Rebounders Club. Group usually meets at lunch on Mondays at the Townhouse Restaurant during basketball season. Coach Lee speaks to the group, his assistants attend, and a player also occasionally speaks if class schedules allow it. Next meeting is Feb. 11. There is no get together on Feb. 4 due to the Mardi Gras weekend.

    Hunter Trahan is president of the QB Club. I don't have his contact info, but if you go to either Lafayette Motors or Lafayette Mazda and ask for him, he will be happy to help you. QB Club also meets on Monday at the Townhouse during football season. Coach Bustle and varying assistant coaches also speak at those functions.

    Their is a similar support group for baseball but I am not as familiar with that group. Of course, there is an entry fee to join these groups and cost of the meal is $10. 00 Townhouse serves the best $10 meal in town, it is well worth it.

    If you contact me at cajunsmike@cox.net, I will give you my phone nos. and you can ask me more questions directly. I won't be able to help you as much as the group presidents, but I can get you started.

    Note there is a thread on this forum containing the entry form for the Baseball Support group, the Diamond Club. There is some contact info on this form.

    I certainly appreciate the info. I will contact those people and get with you with any further questions. I'm not a huge baseball fan so I think my entry into that org. would be a waste of time but anything I can do to help will be done. I do plan to hit a few of the games though and try to get to a bunch of the softball games as well.

    Like you, I also don't get to go to as many of the diamond sports as football and basketball games due to my spring schedule. I just wanted to pass on the info if you were interested. Hopefully the QB Club and Rebounders Club info I gave in an earlier post will help you get more involved.

    See some of the posts below. There is also a scholarship fund you can donate to.

    Another important way to support is to convince a friend or associate to become active. Contact Gerald Hebert for more ways you can get involved.

    First things first, you could donate to the Track fund. A few bucks donated there will help out a lot. Click on Turbine's PayPal link on the front page. I think the donation drive for that is ending today or tomorrow.

    Yeah, I just saw it. I'm definitely in. And will be more than happy to send my check across state lines.
