(Better than 15K fans freezing there _____ off)

    2. Money: This pays for upgrades and makes your fans and recruits excited!
(You only make money if you sell tickets)

With our past bowl attendance, it is very attractive for:
    a. Louisiana (Us) to make money
    b. R&L Carrier Bowl to make money
    c. Another school to share the good money (win-win)
    d. New Orleans City to make money.
    e. To show on TV more people attending than most other bowls including some BCS bowls

If you think that N.Orleans City development/tourist people do not have a say so in these decisions, well you have not been in buisness meeting before. It takes alot of planning and groups to handle these issues. If you have ALOT of hotels already booked with (UL bowl deal, Hilton riverside $99/night, you have to call them and ask for it, got mine!) reservations, do you think these people are going to let multi-million dollar gains just be decided by someone without their input....I think not. We the fans speak in "I wish this or it would be great to have this".....they speak in dollars and cent...that's it. Bottomline....money talks everything else walks! Get the Money and the recruits then talk about the future!
The money is break even at best, $40,000 last year after exspenses. So that is not a major seller on a $500,000 payout.

For Us, not for the City and the hotel owners! That is what my point was.....it's the people who stand to make or lose money will ultimately make the decisions. $40K+ with national exposure, while others lose money...I'll take that.

    2011: $375,000 (NO bowl payout)
2012: $40,000 (NO bowl payout reduced due to new rules!)

I think Farmer is trying to shop a better payout, maybe. I think someone got screwed out of some money in 2012!

    We did!

There is national exposure in other bowls with larger viewing audiences. The NO Bowl has been great for UL, but its not the end all for Cajun football. At this time, it is the most realistic opportunity.

It could be two fold. The New Orleans Bowl has seen a massive uptick in attendance and recognition. The last two years the bowl was in the upper half of both with it being selected as one of the better bowls played. The more work we do there the better. If CUSA bows out of the Nola Bowl maybe AAC or Big 12/ACC take a long hard look. It's setting up a relationship we can use to our advantage down the road regardless of conference affiliation.

On the other hand...the Indy Bowl is a car on fire. Their bowls have been miserable failures. Attendance woes and god awful matchups thrown together at the last minute is dooming this bowl to either fold or become what the New Orleans Bowl was 5-10 years ago. Couple that with losing Advocare as their sponsor and this bowl is going to die on the vine sooner rather than later. Why throw these guys a bone?

    We did!
The Bowl did not screw us out of the money in 2012, our own conference did. Even if (BIG IF) Farmer could get us a better payout we would still get screwed out of the majority of it by our conference.

Nobody is looking at the line items, comparing from 2011 to 2012. We (our athletic department) did what I was hoping they would; jack up the expenses as best they could.

The coaches' bonuses were included as expenses in 2012; this kept it from coming out of RCAF funds. Plus some other grouped expenses were in there that were not in the 2011 breakdown. Our expenses jumped up from 2011.

This was broken down in the Sunday DA.

That is how you handle sharing with the conference!

Need to purchase all new uniforms, training equipment, supplements, etc for Bowl prep and use. Then use the equipment and excess supplements for the following season.

We will hopefully be splitting the payout in fewer shares this time. It could be as few as just on other SBC team. That would also net us more take.

I agree....plus rumor is that J1M will only be bringing the thong to NO. A bowl game without it is similar to a game without the Cajun Chicken so many years ago.....its just not the same.

Yea, I think he fears the reaction from those South Arkansas rednecks. He fears all the unwanted advances.

----T----AGAIN, if you can load up on expenses then it Tain't that bad----OK --here is your example---A guy is on an EXpense account for his company and he takes a client out for a fishing trip===He buys a boat, all the bells and whistles, ice chest and drinks, etc-----he turns in the costs and say he keeps the boat and the rest ----he done pretty good!!!! Same thing here as we charge coaches' salaries, bonuses, and you name it to our expenses and after draining it there isn't much left over---so What??????
