Think about bigger BCS bowl games, they have Fan Experiences and what not. So yes technically the whole program gets rewarded.

I would say the players are most worthy of their reward, though.
And you can still go to the pep rally...in Shreveport or mobile or Dallas or San Diego, wherever that game may be. New Orleans isn't the only place that has things for fans to do before bowl games. In fact, the New Orleans bowl relies more on the city itself to entertain the fans. Other cities do even more for the fans because they don't have bourbon st or French quarter to entertain people. Look, I hope we are in New Orleans for the same reasons everyone else does, but I will also be wherever the team goes.

I think the sad problem with those 40k numbers is that half (at a minimum) of them went to New Orleans to party and attended a fball game on the side while there; unlike you and me who went to a fball game and happened to be in a city where we could party.

In Mobile, gonna be nothing but die hards attending....

And I don't doubt that the vast majority of us here on RP will be wherever we play. But many casual fans, students, women and people who don't have much flexibility with work probably won't make it to Mobile.

Do you have any idea the rigorous preparation required to be an older male wearing nothing but a thong at social gatherings... that are not located in the French Quarter? In order to maintain the endless fantasies I produce, I follow a strict diet and an exhausting regiment of gluteus maximus sculpting exercises.

I feel that I not only work very hard for my rewards, but I feel my thong exhibitions are largely responsible for the increased interest in our program, the overall Cajun Field tailgating experience, the envy created of our peers, and much more. Admittedly, I've created a great deal of tension in thousands of couples' relationships... but in the end... my overall contributions outweigh that fact.

You've made me reconsider whether our fans truly deserve any additional rewards. Is gazing upon the liquid trickle of a sweat bead as it navigates so expertly along the rounded contours of my exposed love cushion not reward enough? Indeed! Bowls are the bounty of our players!

____em, so why "reward" those people? That's why it should be only about the players. Diehards will go wherever, casual fans will drop the second there vagina gets cold.

That last phrase was very troubling. It's "their"... not "there". As long as I'm wearing my thong, crazy, there's little chance of a live vagina going cold.

I feel a Turbine censorship heading our way... hide the sex toys!

My bad, that actually bothers me too...I'm normally very attentive to proper use of there and their

I think if you switch the dates of the two bowls you would see more fans in Mobile and maybe a few less in New Orleans. The biggest problem with Mobile is that it at the end of the bowl season and is after January 1. For me I will be taking off December 20 - January 1 because my vacation must be used in 2013. I will be hard pressed to take off more time after the 1st of the year for more than 1 day after I just took 2 weeks off from work. I will be there no matter what but I think this will be the same for a lot of the casual fans.

The thing is NO Bowl gets the first pick.

I want to be in New Orleans for my own selfish reasons. I don't sit here and think I deserve a reward because I get to enjoy myself at a football game. Whatever coach HUD and the team wants and think is best for them is what should happen. You are seeing the reward for your financial investment..a winning team and most likely a conference champion. The bowl game is a reward for the players achieving that. You can disagree all you want, you won't convince me fans deserve a reward.

Pro playoffs were designed by owners, for owners.

Bowls were designed by fans, for fans.

Selling the concept to the players was the easiest thing ever, they are the biggest fans of all.

Being unable to take days off from work to travel out of state for a game on a Sunday evening does not make someone less of a fan. While I will go to Mobile if that is where we are sent I have had jobs in the past that would nit have allowed me that flexibility. Rather than say ____ our fans I say ____ Mobile for picking a lousy date and time. That's why we have gad this discussion. If the GoDaddy was on a Saturday prior to New Year's Day there would be little objection.
