Thread: Tax jump will help overhaul Cajun Dome

  1. Default Tax jump will help overhaul Cajun Dome

Nearly $1 million in improvements are in the works this year for the Cajundome as a result of excess hotel-motel tax collections.

The Cajundome Commission on Monday gave Executive Director Greg Davis permission to proceed with nearly $1 million of improvements including:

Better lighting, grandstand stage improvements and signage for the Cajun Heartland State Fair, the most lucrative single event that the Cajundome hosts, generating $185,000 in net profit annually, $254,000.

Upgrading the Cajundome's outdoor marquee from monochrome LED to video quality, $241,000.

Replacing the main stage curtain, $236,000.

An improved in house big TV screen would be more important than an outdoor sign, or curtains IMO. Substance over glitz.

And Cajun blaster is already in, not even 7AM yet, screaming bad management and dishonesty!! Amazing.

I had told scott Farmer a while back that the atmosphere in that place for basketball games was severely lacking, and could be improved greatly by reconfiguring the pull out bleachers so they were right up on the court, especially behind the goals. I think they should do something to fix that problem.

I was watching the OSU/OK game last night and was impressed with the center court logo of OU. I was also noticing how they brought the stands down to the court at the ends and arched in from center court to the base line.

I think we could very easily do that with the base lines seats. It would be a problem for the side lines for two reasons. One is everybody uses the side line as an egress. Pulling them away from the main stands would create a gap requiring a ramp similar to the Super Dome. In addition I have developed a pair of very bad knees and only have to go up and down a couple of steps. For me if I had to come in and leave from the second level I would have to change my seats, no that it should matter, but I think it would be the case for many besides myself..
