Thats why Toothpick was so successful.
Nebraska would beat us on a recruit if their DC was David Duke.
The only thing Louisiana has on them is the proximity of family and living in Lincoln.
You guys aren't getting it, I'm sure I'm probably arguing with a bunch of white dudes..
"It's just different".

"Recruiting is all about relationships. I do not think race plays a factor once you build that relationship; however, the relationship has to be built." My whole point is that a Minority defensive coordinator that has improved our defense needs to be retained. Other programs will come calling. He can give us a recruiting advantage, or at least keep us even with mid major programs.
You bring up toothpick? He was beaten at home by an average 1AA team, had questionable character and work ethic and doesn't belong in the discussion.
The overall amount of black coaches in FBS football is surprisingly small compared to white coaches. Of course the talented black player coming out of high school is used to being contacted by white coaches higher up the echelon in major programs.

31 black coordinators in all of Division 1, and you think you have a grasp on the argument? Check mate?
read about it..
If you want to build a defense at UL, pay to keep Willis.
Race does matter. That's a fact. Not saying you can't recruit as a white guy, but there are built in advantages that come along with being a young black man when you're recruiting.
We pay our coaches pretty well white or black. Hud gave him an opportunity to get back into coaching, so I am pretty sure he is being properly paid.
Picking coaches because of color sounds smart but is not. Colorado tried and failed, Mississippi State did the same. We got Baldwin a program killer, we got Jesse a builder, and Lee a great man who could not head coach.
You pick coaches just like you recruit players, on ability.
Charlie Strong.
Kevin Sumlin
James Franklin
All young, smart, vibrant, minority coaches who are kicking ___ recruiting..
Not a coincidence.
"We pay our coaches well white or black"-
They get paid the lowest salaries of any FBS program.
You want to be ACC level, or Big 12, or AAC, even Conf. USA right? That's what all the banter is about, so pay what they pay. Get the shovel in the ground and start building this dream facility. Great coaches recruit..there are some damn good coaches working over on Reinhardt drive right now..They have a good thing going.
