After a disappointing end last season in the NCAA College Station Regional, UL baseball coach Tony Robichaux wants to make amends as soon as possible.
Ragin' Cajun fans get their first chance to see a 2008 team on a mission at its annual Fan Day today at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field. Gates open at 11 a.m. for the free event. There will be an autograph and picture session until 12:30 p.m. including current and former UL players.
Hunter Moody, a senior pitcher, said the Cajuns are ready to get on the field. They are also doing their best to avoid getting distracted by preseason accolades. UL has been picked to win the Sun Belt Conference and is ranked in five preseason polls, including No. 19 by Baseball America.
“It's nice to get recognition, but that's just other people's opinion of you,” Moody said. “We've got a job to do. You've got to pitch, and you've got to play.”
The Cajuns will try to have some fun today, too. At 1 p.m., the Cajuns will hold their Home Run Hitting Contest, followed by the Cajuns vs. Pros game at 2 p.m.
