After he saw the shot leave the hands of teammate Tyren Johnson, UL freshman Travis Bureau left his feet.

What followed was an acrobatic display that lasted a millisecond midway through the second half of Saturday's 69-66 loss to Sun Belt Conference foe Western Kentucky. In one quick motion in mid-air, Bureau extended his left arm, cradled the ball and hammered it through the rim.

"I knew I couldn't catch it with my right hand, so I had to dunk it with my left," said a smiling Bureau, who finished with 11 points in the loss. "I didn't think I was going to get it."

But he did. The play drew a collective gasp from the crowd of 6,190 at the Cajundome. It also grabbed the attention of his coaches and teammates.

"I remember it very well," said UL coach Robert Lee, whose Cajuns (8-10, 4-3) play at 7:05 tonight at South Alabama (15-3, 7-0).
