I heard from an un-reliable source that we are building a dome over the football field!

How unreliable is that source? Maybe it's true!

_ I also heard about the Basball stadium renovations, and it was from a reliable source. They will also be redoing the field, as it has drainage problems and slopes off in the back. In addition, this season when the Cajuns hit a home run, there will be fireworks! Nice!

As for the football stadium, I have only heard that they are going to start installing turf at the beginning of February. Someone said there will be a rebuilding of the pressbox in '09, but I haven't heard anything else. _

I thought the drainage problem was fixed a couple of years ago, for a lot of money if I remember correctly. Or am I thinking of the track field?... anyway, a new stadium?..I'll believe it when I see it.. hopefully it's true though...

The drainage issue never got solved, only pushed back for another day. Perhaps we are approaching that day.

FieldTurf make a field nearly rain-out proof. the Tulane ballpark just had the stuff installed. A typical installation is wall to wall with clay boxes around the bases. This is Seton Hall's field.

Nice field! I spoke with an ex cajun player about 1 month ago, (I don't remember his name), he has a notary office on Jefferson St in Lafayette. This player told me that a private donation (3 MILLION DOLLARS...WOW!) was given to the baseball program by another cajun player (I don't remember his name either...) who played in the 70's for the cajuns and in the pro's for a small amount of years. This donation was given in December... I wonder where this money could be applied? HMMMM? Sorry for the lack of details, but I believe him...he's got cajun baseball picks all over his office and pictures of him with pro's as well as autograph's from some pretty big names. I'm sure he would be happy to talk baseball all day...

Maybe I'm the only one here, but I can't believe they'd get rid of natural grass for that ugly field turf. Drainage can be improved on a natural field, as well. Field turf makes sense in northern areas of the country and domes, but in open air stadiums in south Louisiana?
Oh well, I guess I'm in the minority here.
