Thread: FB/BB Stadium Projects

  1. Default Re: the swamp

first off I'm not an LSU troll, and second, no ____ it wont anytime soon, but I mean looking ahead to the future. I was thinking within the next 25 years we may add an upper deck to the other side and then within 50 years, have the endzone enclosed. It;s going to happen eventualy folks, I was just curious to see how many of you think it will be in our life times.

thank you brother. also, if youbuild it, they will come. I think if we can have a 50k plus stadium more people will come because it will make cajun football games seem like a bigger deal. It will alos impress recruits who see a biggr stadium.

Right now we cannot take care of what we have. Why add another 20,000 seats that will not be used and quickly fall into disrepair? First we need to spruce up what we have, then we need to put more chairbacks and cover the student side. Only after that do we need to CONSIDER adding more seats.
The stadium is not holding down UL as far as conference goes. The budget and the teams on the field are.

I couldn't disagree with you more.....

We take very good care of our baseball facility. 20K Seats???? Who said anything about 20K seats? We are in desperate need of a new stadium, whether we rebuild in the same spot or move to another location. Our stadium, mainly the grandstand, is out of date. We are behind in facilities w/ roughly half of the conference and we need to be ahead. A new stadium will bring new fans. People will come Metry, People will come. They come from far not know why. They'll come to watch baseball. Oh yes, Metry, people will definitely come.

Another point is that if someone is going to pay for a new stadium for the team we should jump on it. This is not coming out of our budget so let's take advantage of free money.

We are talking about two different things. I am talking about football. I agree with you totally on baseball.

I appologize........well let me aggree with you then.

Football stadium just needs to be powerwashed. It would look ten times better if it were white and maybe had a little less mold. It's kind of an eyesore. We just need renovations to the bathrooms and concession area.

But if we are talking of rebuilding....I would prefer a one level horseshoe stadium. I love the way horseshoe stadiums look. I would add seats to the Congress side of the swamp and make it the student section. I would love to see the players jump into the fans as if they were in Lambeau after they score a TD.

Sorry for misunderstanding your post Metry........but you had to at least like the "Field of Dreams" quote huh?

We can't begin to talk about a new stadium until we have a new funding engine. Anything in football larger than we have is going to cost enormously. I don't disagree that many new and nicer things attract athletes, coaches and fans... .... but we must first institute an astronomically bigger private funding mechanism. There is no other way to move up from where we are in football.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I can't see any reason in building/adding anything new on the football stadium until they address the problems it has now. Look I love looking and going to these gigantic stadiums with 80-100 K seats but lets not try and be someone we're not here. If the old portion is crumbling and falling apart it doesn't matter how many seats we have, people are still going to see a dump.

No where in my post did I say expand to 80-100k. What I did say is we should expand our total seating capacity to 45-55k instead of 31k. Fans do not get the recruiting process and never will unless they have a child going through it. I have beenthrough it and I can tell you what todays athletes wants. As far as upkeep of the current stadium, that was the fault of the old administration and the utter neglect of athletics. If Terry Don Phillips were the AD it would have not been in such a sad state. Cleaning would be a first step but athletes from Tx have played in front of bigger crowds than we bring to Cajuns field and some stadiums that have a much better atmosphere.

Anyway this is useless because like you have already stated we have different opinions of what needs to be done.
