So we have a fee that is paid every semester and stays in the account until graduation ---at that time the student receives a portion of it back???? man I just love when people think outside the institution like this---it might fizzle or be the greatest idea ever, but thanks for your efforts ---go check with Ken Ardoin!!! I am thinking the amount invested would get better return rates whether lumped with existing Foundation monies or on their own!!! ---Tell us more!!! No go talk to KEN!!!! lol

    Sweet!

"Here is your diploma and $100 bucks."

(based on $50 a semester and 10% cash back)

BTW, I don't think $50 is enough but I understand more might be a hard sell. How about a gradually escalating fee increasing $50 per semester every year until a reasonable cap that puts us on par with the student fees of schools in conferences where we want to be (not where we are currently stuck).

    Good luck with your efforts.
A $100 fee per semester is not a lot of money, especially when UL has among the lowest tuition in Louisiana. With 18,000 students, that is $1.8M X 2 = $3.6 M + summer school (estimate 1/2 enrollment or $9,000 students X $100 = $900K. That is a total of $4,500,000 per year. We should be able to generate a $20.5M budget aside from that, putting us at $25,000,000. That is before facility enhancements and stadium enlargement which will help generate an even larger budget. This will also get us out of the Sun Belch.

In 5 years when all facility improvements are finished and we are around a $30M budget, we get into the Big 12 which generates another $25M or so and we are at $55 - $60M and still growing. And all of the success generated from athletics helps to increase enrollment, RCAF contributions, endowments, Tier 1, alumni donations, etc. and these numbers become even larger.

We need the student fees to jump start all of this. Want to get to a higher level quickly, think big time, make this the Louisiana model, and follow J1M's suggestion on student fees to make this doable, now.
