That is the way it is. Anyone who disagrees with this neither understands tradition, respect, nor class & will never be a champion in sports or in life.
I wasn't directly involved as I didn't have season tickets at that time, but when mentioning Yvette's departure, I don't think she particularly honored or respected the tradition she was a part of, or acted with class when leaving the school. Everything mentioned at the time intimated the opposite. I understand that there may have been issues between her and the administration that played into her departure, and take that into consideration.

I respect and honor her for all of the work she did here getting the program started and building it through her efforts into a nationally respected program. The effort she put into the program, and the involvement of the community in assisting in its growth were herculean, but in the case of her departure, sometime you reap what you sow.

Yvette in moving to LSU simply accepted yet another challenge in the only way she knew how...straight on with an all-out effort.

The person or persons that took her plaque if ever found out should be barred from Ragin Cajun events of every description. If it was a University decision the person should be fired and exposed as a disgrace. Yvette was, is and always will be the Lady who put softball on the map _
    Great post.

    My thoughts:
I don't like the fact that someone took the plaque off the wall. Yvette, did what she needed to do, MAKE herself money which this University did not match. Remember, she turned down the University of Minnesota job just a few years back to stay close to home. When lsu called and offered her big bucks, we didn't match, DUH, no brainer. I was hurt, p*****d off at first but did not blame her. She has taken so much abuse from our alum and fans, I wonder if she will ever be a Cajun again after she retires this year.
What I wish, after she retires, the plaque is returned and the Lotief's make the move to have it put back on the Brick wall at Lamson part for display. I like the Lotief's and I like Yvette, She will always be respected by me and much deserved by all Cajun Softball fans. She is the First Lady of Louisiana Softball in my opinion.

I only hope after her retirement, she forgives, and attends UL sporting events and where-ever there is tailgating by my group, she will always be welcomed under my tent.

Let's welcome her back with Open arms, she deserves nothing but Respect from UL ALum and Fans

I like history and ignoring history makes everyone dumber.

Yvette's history with UL should have a full page in every softball media guide.

I've read the book. We were undoubtedly guilty of violations. It was just blown out of proportion.

We were mostly guilty of not knowing our place. The NCAA likes to use their sledgehammer of justice on the weak, but uses the yardstick on the behemoths.

I agree. We were undoubtedly treated much harsher than a high major school. However, we did have multiple violations that we were guilty of.

How childish & embasillic is that?

Then the next week after the LITTLE fracus, I personally heard Tony Robichaux say that they would probably not play LSU for a while. I didn't hear him say it was Smoke's idea along I heard him say plain & simple that they wouldn't play for a while. Furthermore, I don't care. You are a big baby & a liar. anyone can see through you like crystal. if your devotion was half as great as your hatred for some school that isn't even in your conference you'd be cutting grass at the school every day seven days a week. I have just posted facts. You can't handle that because you are too immature & childish to handle the truth. Guess what. Santa Clause aint real either.

It's people like you that cause more trouble for UL than support. _

First of all I could care less when you started supporting or how long you will support. But you should realize a couple of things.

A: That park did not belong to Yevette, yes she is the cause but not the owner. Having said that the plaque is not a plaque given to her by the university,NCAA or some softball association. It was a gift to her by a supporter, and was placed on university property without permission or request.

B: The illegally placed plaque went missing. It was not the responsibility to spend thousands or hundreds of dollars replacing it, or investigating it's loss. Again it was a plaque honoring her, and to a large extent her ego. If not, she would not have had the red A for a decade.

C: God bless her for her works here, but after her departure and her bad faith departure, she does not deserve too much homage. She mistook UL loyalty for Yevette loyalty in trying to bring a substantial UL fan base with her using a mailing list she compiled while an employee of UL. Any list she had was created while an employee of the university and for her to use it could actually be grounds for a law suit.

Frankly the less said about the lady the better.

Yes. Yes it is. But it was a sure nice waltz down memory lane. It was nice to review some thoughts from such solid posters of yesteryear like CDeb and Ron Mexico who were both entertaining and regular posters back in the day.

Cdeb is now a big-time traffic engineer in Houston Texas. He has a fantastic family and will make it into Lafayette at selected times of the year. It is always a pleasure to see him.

RonMexico, sadly has vanished from the face of the earth. My last correspondence with him was a letter post marked Mutuo County, China. All that was said in the letter was.... "Z, I am doing fine. Tell the Hoax to suck it and tell the Texters to "separate this"....

Its been since sometime in the late 2000's since anyone has seen him.

    I miss the guy.
