    Default Basketball Recruiting...

With two of the best teams in the state here close ... Is UL attempting to recruit from them or any other local teams?

We have some good teams in the area. However, from what I understand there are not many individual Division 1 players in the area. Having no scholarships available is a good thing in a way as that means our program is built for the future.

What about the guy that left the team?
Damon Forest....was he on scholarship?...if so, would that free up one?

    Also, who is:
Phillip Jones G 5-11 175 Fr. HS Maurice, La. (North Vermilion)

    Another question....
The kid Figaro for Lafayette High...is he related to the former 1,000 point member the Cajuns had way back? (Does he also play WR for LHS?)

Damon Forrest is transferring to Southeastern Louisiana. His scholarship is probably going to the post guy transferring from UNLV. Phillip Jones is a walk on from North Vermilion who is redshirting. The Lafayette High Figaro kid is the son of Kevin Figaro who played on our basketball team with Andrew Toney in the late 70's/early 80's. He did play WR this past year. From what I understand, his college future athletically is probably football. I don't know what schools are interested in him or which school he is interested in.

Actually, with the talent in the program now, I believe that to be great!

Yeah Philip is from North Vermilion. I played with him the previous two years. Phil can shoot the ball pretty well. I'd say he had around 15-20 a game for us. He is smart too. He was also the quarterback for our football team. Hopefully he can get a little stronger in a college weight program and get to play a little next year.

Young Mr. Figaro has some FB genes. His uncle (Kevin's younger brother, Cedric) was a LB for Notre Dame.

I hope so... The reason I say it sucks is I think its good having local talent on the floor. With Boyd, Mouton and the likes playing... it gets the crowd going.

Sorry to be taken out of context.

Our current squad has lots of local guys. Daigle and Gary are from right here in Lafayette. I believe of the 14 guys we dress, only 2 (the Dees brothers) are not from Louisiana. I know some of Randell Daigle's fans are now coming to games.

The Dees Brothers and Mo Barksdale are the only 3 not from La.
