Thread: Basketball Recruiting...

The irony of the previous comments is that this team is probably made up of more local talent than ever before. Just because you have two good teams in this area doesn't mean they are loaded with individual D-1 talent either.

Again.. by saying local I am meaning Lafayette and surrounding areas (new iberia, carencro, etc etc) not new orleans and the likes. We currently have Daigle, Gary and Milson from Lafayette. I am pleased with the influx of Louisiana talent on the team but was simply asking about Lafayette players. Thanks for the help.

You don't count. You do come for the, heaven forbid, non locals.

The only local senior that is a legit D1 player is Patrick Richard of Carencro, who signed with McNeese; UL, Bradley and others were in the mix...but the absence of any scholarships at the time and the youth movement at UL with his former teammate La'Ryan Gary led him away from staying at home.

Figaro will likely play football in college as well as Tyrun Walker, returning state championship game MVP from Westgate. These two top teams aren't necessarily loaded with COLLEGE basketball talent, rather the coaches do great jobs with great high school basketball players. Two well-coached and talented high school teams.

Northside's Jordan Fuselier will have a chance to be a nice D1 signee also.

There are, however, many talented juniors at various schools in the area that will be D1 without a doubt.

I understand what you were saying but again, I don't think we've ever had more "local" talent than now. So my previous statement does stand

Not really, we have a lot of young talent coming in and the next few years should be exciting.

Nope, those scholarships were committed to athletes already. There were none available.
