Thread: Five Keys to Beating Georgia State - From the Bird's Nest

    Seven in a row.

That’s where the winning streak stands for Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns as they prepare for their trip to Atlanta to take on Georgia State. A win will match the longest winning streak for the Cajuns since Gerald Ford was President.

I say swap McGuire's and Harris' carries for this game, and see what happens

Most of our fans probably don't know who Mr. Wilson and Dennis the Menace is/were... but it's a funny play on Wilson nonetheless.

I sure do like the switch in themes that the Cajuns just need to stay respectful of our opponents to secure victories... as opposed to the many years when we were the one trying to figure out how to get their respect.

This is the prophet's break out game. 150+ yards rushing.

I would love to say that my five keys would be: Show Up, Show, Up, Show Up, Show Up and Show Up. But, after NMSU, obviously I can't have this attitude.

The Cajuns are ranked higher than GSU in every SBC statistical category except pass offense (GSU 4th, UL 7th), kickoff returns (GSU 4th, UL 6th) and 4th down conversion (GSU 4th, UL 7th). On paper and win/loss record, the Cajuns are the more superior team. The Cajuns need to run the ball, own the clock and walk away with the win.

I like your concise review. One thing, being 4th in passing pretty much means you are average in an eight team league.

Now I do not know about you but I do not think Broadway is the 7th worst passer in this league, and our receivers are better than 7th. So that means what?

It means to me we have decided the best path to wins is a balanced attack with a run first, and often view. Unfortunately for GSU they will have meaningless passing yards. Meaningless because they cannot run, and are usually behind in games. I wonder how many minutes GSU has held a lead in any game or all games?

My overall point is if GSU does what it does best, and we do what we do best on offense the game will not be close.

It is a football game and anything can happen, but I am losing zero sleep thinking about the outcome of this game.

I agree about the run to pass. Cajuns are number 1 in rushing at 223 yards/game. GSU is last at 92.9 yards/game. The difference in passing yards is only 28 yards/game, so not much difference there. They have also punted 67 times, compared to 33 for the Cajuns. They average 16 first downs per game. Cajuns, 22 first downs. GSU 3rd down conversion, 33% (139 attempts) Cajuns: 51% (117 attempts).
