UL students have had a long break since completing final exams for the fall semester.
That vacation will end soon, though, with spring semester classes starting Jan. 22 and students preparing to move back into housing both on and off campus this week.
With any luck, they haven't forgotten the need to be careful this spring.
UL Chief of Police Ray F. Lucas III is looking forward to welcoming students back, but urges caution as they do.
"There are many things they can do," Lucas said. "First and foremost, they need to take responsibility, in part, for their own safety. Our officers can't be everywhere at all times.
