Thread: The Story behind the switch

  1. Default The Story behind the switch

When the UL Ragin' Cajuns travel to Atlanta later this week for Saturday's game with Sun Belt Conference-newcomer Georgia State, it will be for a game that originally was scheduled for Cajun Field.

UL, however, cooperated with the conference's request to play the game at Georgia State instead - leaving the Cajuns with seven overall road games and just five at home this season rather than the more-preferable six and six.

The compensation for giving up the home game was $175 and a coupon good for a free Happy Meal. Thanks, Karl. Maybe you should have told GaState to suck it up and schedule D1A teams if they want to be in this conference rather than scheduling Samford, Charlotte and Jacksonville ...and losing to all of them.

  3. UL 1984, 1999 . . . . Re: The Story behind the switch

So you are mad because they are stupid? Ignorant, or bad? Yea probably all three. The point still remains the same, UL was never suppose to have that fourth game, and that sucks.

I do not care about the damned money, the compensition should have been the NAME. Anything else UL can overcome without "Fuher Benson".

This, this and this! Hammer, you nailed it! (pun intended)

If you want to play with the big boys, then play! WE should never have been penalized for their lack of planning.

    NEVER.

That is the only point I will accept; we were only supposed to have 3 SB home games because of "a draw".

I, as commissioner, would have said the new kids on the block pay the price and play 3 home games.

    I'll move on.

Yes, we are leaving a lot if money on the table in ticket sales and economic impact on Lafayette by traveling to play a winless team. Great job Scott and Karl....great job.

Farmer should have told benson we would switch the game back....just give us back our bowl money and we will be on the plane.

Figuring a conservative 25K in attendance, at an average [again conservative] of $20/person, we left half a mil on the table, plus whatever it costs us to travel 150 people to Atlanta and house/feed them for 3 days.

If our financial compensation was a nickel less than $600K, Farmer screwed the pooch.
