Thread: Can we have a name change forum?

Default Can we have a name change forum?

I like to read the latest about the name change issue myself from time to time but its gotten out of hand lately.

Save your "Don't click on the thread if you don't want to read it comments."

I have been purposely avoiding threads involving the name change in the subject line.

The problem is even the thread's with titles that don't have anything to do with the name thing always turn into the name thing no matter what the subject title of the thread.

    Now don't get me wrong.

I realize this is a very hot topic, and it deserves to be talked about. Im not trying to downplay the importance of the issue.

All im saying is every once in a while I would like to read about something else concerning UL.

This subject has consumed this forum for over a month and I would like the chance to read about something else at least every once in a while.

What name controversy? We've been UL, Louisiana, and Ragin Cajuns since 1984!

You know what I mean Mike.

I did not use the word controversy one time in my post.
Never said it was a controversy.
All I said was every once in a while I would like to read about something else.

I hear Martha Stewart has a great article on embroidering in this month's Redbook.

There is a Name Change folder, but up till now RagePage pulled up it's content.

    A couple of options:

    1) You can navigate through the Index and avoid just about any sport or topic.

    2) While this topic is overheating you can click RagePage and the Name Issues forum will not rise to the top.

    3) Avoid Nu2u it brings up everything you haven't seen, but to see Nu2u you have to be logged in.

Late arrival, huh Mike? In the fall semester of 1973, my Senior research project in Demographics recommended that the name of the University be changed the 'The University of Louisiana' based on academics and on marked changes in the geographic distribution of the student population away from a local institution toward a national university. It has been 'UL' in my mind since then.

You used the word "issue". This "issue" is very controversial and has been since La. A&M College @ Baton Rouge and several other universities in this state combined efforts in taking away something we had earned after many years of productive, hard work. Now, people, statesmen, and media personalities are once again meddling in our affairs in hopes of derailing positive steps we have taken for our own beloved university to make it the very best that it can be!

I am proud of everyone who has had the nerve, courage and intelligence to stand up and fight recently via the written/spoken word in defense of UL and the Ragin Cajuns in order to determine our own destiny in both academics and athletics. We will no doubt have to continue fighting in the future against these same minions to maintain and protect our dreams of reaching our ultimate goals and expectations.

When these old issues (like the name game) pop up, they unfortunately have to be met with the same determination, zest, vigor and fury that was initiated long ago against the same inbreds, want-to-bees, and Refineryville paranoids that want to stifle, stop or limit our university aspirations. If we don't choose to answer the lies and misinformation hurled by these bile-spewing hillbillies with the solemn truth from our own firm lips, all of our efforts gleaned will vanish quickly with the wind.

I am glad you choose to be on our side, Jeremy, for we need to replenish the elderly fans with strong, valiant youthful supporters as time zips by. The only sad thing about this whole affair is that we will always have to respond periodically to silence the erroneous, wanton lies put forth by the selfish and jealous to keep us moving straight forward on our steady path to greatness.

    Mike

I was with you then in spirit, good buddy! I was in the hospital from most of 1970-73 after suffering two very bad accidents to my head, face and back! Great job!

I agree with Chop. Lets have a name issue thread. Call me crazy, but I like watching the games and care very little about what some announcer or journalist calls us.
