Well, he should pay more attention to how to write more than trying to offend UL supporters. His whole piece seemed to be disjointed random thoughts.

How about explaining the "ways to accomplish what we want" part and hold off a little on the condescending tone toward the "message board"? There are a large number of "individuals" that make up this "message board" and very few deserve your chastising.
And seriously... do you really think the UL people passionate about the name issue are the ones that have done the mud slinging lately? I'd call a lot of it "being defensive". And without a doubt, many of the articles written (and that does not include Bobby's) are intensionally derisive toward all USL, UL, ULL, Lafayette, Cajuns, etc.
Don't stand too close to any of us. You might be the subject of the next barrage of insults. Thanks Don.
Really don? Do we think that anyone cares what we want to be called outside of this board? Apparently enough people care for us to be forced to change our name twice. If nobody cared what we wanted to be called outside of this board, then we would be getting called what we want to be called everywhere. You are right, there is a way to do this, everybody respect our wishes of what we like to be called. That's the only way this should happen. If I constantly called you Donnie boy while talking to you, talking about you, writing about you, on front of your family and friends... Would you be ok with that? Even after asking me over and over to not refer to you as Donnie boy? Then I just tell you, hey Donnie boy keep asking, I'll do it even more. Wouldn't that make me an immature child if I acted that way?
Don, I am not someone who normally comments about the name stuff, but if you read this article, nearly very reference is UL-Lafayette. I understand what you are saying about his paper, but if I were Mr. Ardoin I would use "Cajuns" or "Ragin Cajuns" after the first reference. Most of the time when newspaper articles refer to a team, the nickname is used after the school is identified. (IE Longhorns, Tigers, Mean Green, etc.) IMO, this article is ridiculous in the number of references to UL Lafayette, not because of the name fight but because it is so redundant.
I love how people talk dismissively about message boards while particpating on a message board. Second, this isn't some web ring where random-azz people get together and talk about cats or knitting. This is the shareholders' meeting. If you don't believe it, pay attention to what happens when we are collectively pizzed off.
I will do all that I can to keep our Lafayette paper--they have done everything for us---Kind of like "you are with us or against us"---the Advocate is against us except to make bucks in Lafayette and not call us by our preferred name so why buy their product---I say back our ADvertiser it is OUR PAPER and not a BR spread to Lafayette!!!
Well Don...waiting for your rebuttal.
IMO, the Advocate's Acadiana addition will be the demise of the Advertiser for better or worse.
The funny thing is the Advocate seems to be responding to the requests / demands of New Orleans readers with their Bew a Orleans edition. They are even responding to demands for coverage from the handful of Toolame fans in New Orleans. Yet they apparently feel no need to cater to the wishes of UL fans in Lafayette.
