Moving Backwards UL-Lafayette

It was back to the practice field Sunday for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, less than 24 hours after the final play of their 49-35 comeback homecoming in over New Mexico State at Cajun Field.

UL-Lafayette has a short week to prepare to host Thursday night’s Sun Belt Conference game with Troy.

The Cajuns (6-2, 3-0) lead the Sun Belt Conference ahead of second place Louisiana-Monroe (5-4, 3-1), which defeated Troy (5-4, 3-2) 49-37 on Thursday night in Troy, Ala.

The UL-Lafayette-Troy contest will be shown on ESPNU.

I love Bobby Ardoin but I can tell you he WILL NOT call us what we want to be called. He is one of the local sportswriters for the Advocate but has only contempt for UL. He will go out of his way to offend us.

Then why do you love him, whomever he is, if he hates us? Personally, I feel time is on our side. Let them call us what they will and let them call themselves what they will. In the end they are the ones making fools of themselves. How long do you think it will be before people start to say why do you want to call yourselves the same name as the Ragin' Cajuns? In the end they look stupid so let them look stupid - we all know which school is "The University of Louisiana". Why should we care what fools think? Can't you see they are just trying to aggravate us? Why let them. Ignore them and eventually they will go away.

Everytime Walker writes an article and refers to us as Louisiana and everytime Fox Sports One refers to us as Louisiana they must accept the truth!

Ardoin writes for a paper that, with all due respect to color-coded school allegiance, may have the best sports section in the country. But that paper, even though it's coming to Lafayette in a big way, is based in Purple and Gold land, period. Bobby nor any other writer at the Advocate makes the UL/ULL/UL-Lafayette/Louisiana decision when they file, that's strictly an editor's call. You think the Advocate or anyone else outside of this message board gives a flip what you want to be called? There are ways to accomplish what you want and this ain't it. Bobby Ardoin does not hate UL....even if he uses 'Louisiana' to describe the Cajuns the editors will change it to ULL or UL-Lafayette.
