I agree...the only problem is...each time they go there...money is always behind it. No one does anything these days without the promise of coin. Whoever is challenging this Redskins nickname is looking to make this into a career. Think Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

I'm a huge Redskins fan for the past 45 years (that is where I'm from). Anyone that would use logic would know that Redskins could not have been a derogatory term when they were named such. Who in their right mind would name their own team a demeaning name, who would right a song "Hail to the Redskins" if they hated indians and thought the name was racist. Our politically correct, but upside down government cultivates these groups to fabricate something that offends them so they have a reason to live. Pathetic people with nothing better to do.....and that goes for the LaMorons and the LSU A&M at Baton Rouge babies. "If you mind your own business, then you won't be mindin' mine"..... At the time the name was chosen it wouldn't have been considered racist but today it is. Many things 60 years ago were accepted and fine yet today we know better. Why not just call them the Washington Braves, Warriors etc.... Redskin is a racist term pure and simple. We need to do away with the term Indian. It's a 500 year old mistake. Columbus thought he was in India thus he called the natives Indians. The witch hunt over Native American names in the late 90's was stupid. I had always wondered why the Redskins were made of teflon. All of the Native American named teams were to pay honor to those tribes. Not sure why ASU and ULM caved so easily unless they wanted to get rid of a name that didn't make any sense unless they were talking about those Indians in New Delhi.

My last few years in Lafayette, a group of African Americans were making a big deal over the use of Cajun claiming it didn't represent the community. Do Tigers represent the people in Louisiana? LSU doesn't have any Tigers on the team.

The NCAA is the reason they caved. According to the PC crowd, the words or names "Braves"...or even something as seemingly generic as "Warriors" was/is considered offensive. Well...I think to belittle someone by calling him a "cornhusker" is offensive. And I don't care that Florida State got the Seminole Nation's permission. I think "the Seminoles" is offensive. And while I'm at it, I think using "Texans" is offensive to all the Mexican immigrants who live there. Oh...I almost forgot...the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, Iowa Hawkeyes (offending the blind), Oklahoma Sooners (for those who only recently have moved there) are ALL offensive terms and MUST be changed. And don't get me started on how offensive it is to PETA that we humans who think we're just better than animals get to use their names without regard for their feelings.

Not at all. Just don't use the color of a peoples skin as a reference point. They are the Fighting Irish not the white skinned Fighting Irish. The white skin Ragin Cajuns would be racist. If you want to get really PC, the stadium in Baton Rouge is an insult to dead people.

I just don't see why this is suddenly, after all these years such a problem other than we have become a hyper-sensitive society. Redskins as applied to the team is meant as a point of pride by the team and fans. And I don't see how Chiefs, Braves, etc as a mascot is any more or less "demeaning". Finally, just as with moanroe's attempts to stop our use of Louisiana, how will the end of the use of Redskins by thus team better the plight of American Indians? Will living conditions on reservations improve? Will the high rate of alcoholism among Indians on reservations go down? Will the literacy rate increase? It just seams that there are a lot of much more serious issues facing American Indians.
