Ok, this is straight from the horses mouth. The job was broken down into phases. The first phase was to do all the underground work. The second phase was to do the concrete base for the bricks. The third phase was to install the bricks with the final phase to do the fountain. This was done to keep each phase of the project to an amount where the State of Louisiana Physical Planning would not be involved. (Excellent). The second phase was just bid and will start fairly soon. They have started to etch the bricks and will be delivered one year at a time.

Bottom line there was no contractor default, the State of Louisiana was not involved and the job is proceeding. All in all not bad, not bad at all.

I was also to get a quick pic of the new 'Louisiana' wall going up in front of Martin hall. Not much to see, but it looks like the foundation part is almost done. So we should start seeing it rise pretty soon.

Just curious. The Wall says University of Louisiana Lafayette. Our university logo says University of Louisiana Lafayette. What happened to "at Lafayette"? Isn't that part of our official name that we are required to use?

I noticed that as well. Also I noticed in the pic you can see something written under the "Lafayette" I wonder if that is the year founded or Ragin Cajuns??

i hope they dont over torque the "lafayette" letters too much. it will leave oversized holes once it gets "vandalized" and all the letters are ripped off.

It is illegal, "at" is the dominate feature of the law.

Thanks for the update Helmut.....it makes sense now.
And I agree about the lettering of the wall: from what it looks like, it does just say Lafayette, with no 'at.' And I think it says 'ragin Cajuns' underneath it. Very curious to see what it will actually say, because this is, after all, just a rendering.

haha, im gunna totally claim 100% responsibility for this one, i just remembered a convo from two years ago. As im leaving a sit down with t joe a long while back i said i was off to go and look for some kind of marker, grand entrance, crest or something to establish the school in the flick, to which his team was about to reply and i interjected "yeah i know...there's not really anything that says bam you are here... so i'll see what i can come up with". Two years later...here we are. Totally claiming this one, i am now wielding power over state budgets. KNEEL BEFORE ZOD
