I am very certain we have a pizzed off Troy team coming in here this Thursday. We play on five nights of rest, they play on seven. They have a week to prepare the game plan and run though, we have five. Why on earth are we talking about a Hoax team that may have two more loses by the time we play them.
I am going to quote Hud, and this is especially true this week, 'the most important game in UL history is this Thursday'.
Come on fans lets geaux focus on the rubbers.
@cajunmike, time to quit sounding like Stevie P, of course there is not a team on the remaining schedule that we cannot lose to under the right set of circumstances, and you correctly pointed to one. I will take a 95% motivated Louisiana squad over a 100% Browning led Hoax squad. I think Hud can get these boys up to 95%.
Ok, ok, they needed a fifth home game, they did and do not have seven. Originally they had the game we had to give up, they were willing to pass it up, but found out the NCAA required them to have the fifth game, so the conference gave it back. This was the result of five A hole teams leaving with almost no notice.
Benson still sucks, the conference still sucks, but I hold no animosity towards GaSt for this.
Everything you say is relevant to the team (staff and players) except for the name issue. Fans don't have to respect any opponent. And there will be no football played differently because of the naming stuff going on. The only advantage goes to the Cajuns in that it will be a home game, and I expect the fans to be markedly more passionate than they would otherwise, for a ULM game.
As for Browning, he gives it his all in every game. I don't think he's got a reserve tank stored up for the Cajuns. The only question right now is, "will he be 100%?".
This past Saturday... and I could care less what our coaches say... was not a matter of UL overlooking an opponent. If that were the case, we would never have been capable of a complete gear overhaul in 20 minutes. Our offense wasn't forced into mistakes to open the game. They just weren't clicking. And our defense was, once again, proven to be terrible in pass coverage until someone on the Cajun staff figured out our secondary has to play assignment defense.
Once the Cajun secondary plays assignment defense, we're physically better than our SBC opponents. We only have to make a QB have to look beyond the wide open guy sprinting underneath. They are so wide open they catch the ball in full stride. It isn't just NMSU. It happens in every game. We change to assignment secondary, and it almost always works. I clown with one of my friends. I say, "All you have to do early in a game against the Cajuns is either run a crossing route or send the slot guy across the middle... he'll be wide ___ open." It has nothing to do with "adjusting". We simply need to start out with the same assignment coverage as we eventually end up with. Again, all our defense has to have to be extremely effective is no instant wide open looks for the opponent QB.
The only slight chance ULM has against us on Nov 30th is if Browning is 100% healthy. And that just gives them one very dangerous weapon. They have a lot more than one to worry about IMO.
CajunExpress is right in that the focus now needs to be on Troy. We can worry about ULM later. I only pointed out they will be motivated in that game due to the name stuff. Nuff said about that game for now though. We need to be ready for Troy on Thursday to meet our goals.
He covered himself on "perception" by talking in circles. He opened with "it's only important to fans... not presidents". Then he closed with, "perception is important". He didn't have anything meaningful to say, he just wanted to say something. He decided that mentioning some hypothetical trend in a one to two year span was infinitely more critical to presidential consideration than "perception". Perception... by the way... is a blanket term that pretty much sums up a generalized opinion following a summary of all things considered. In reality... a human perception of something is their reality of that something... or at least that's my perception.
BS. We need to get off of this forum and practice standing, drinking beer, yelling and high fiving!
Just like Hud tells me every week at fan practice... "There's no Ragin Pagin posting when you're standing in UD2 yelling at those worthless ____s from 'say the name of the team we're playing here' on 'say the date of the next game here' as we yell them back into the stone ages from that little podunk town of 'say the name of the place their school is here'!!!!!".
