Thread: SBC Name Policy

I have a great idea... Lets follow WKU and previous SBC schools to CUSA!! In a new conference we dont have to worry about monroe anymore!! The SBC is like a stock, when the big investors or a high volume of investors sell... You follow suit!! They obviously know something.... The sunbelt is turning into the "New FCS Conference" MTSU, NT, FIU/FAU were smart enough to take the offer to leave the SBC. WKU is leaving next yr.... Even though i dont think CUSA is a great conference, i think we need to make moves before we get stuck here. CUSA is set to add old dominion ad Charlotte next yr... You dont think we could have been a better addition? After WKU leaves the only big players will be UL and ARK st. I guess u can throw monroe in there, but with budget cuts and the big money games on the future schedules, i dont think they will sustain D-1 status for another 5+ yrs. They would fit in the southland conference very well. Mcneese, NSULA, SLU, monroe, lamar.

In CUSA i think it will be a great old rival with tech. U will not have to worry about the name issue anymore. LA Tech is LA Tech and Louisiana is Louisiana.... Monroe will still be in SBC, Which will prob fold eventually,Then monroe drops to FCS with mcneese. In CUSA the games will be against better competition... SBC is heading towards a slow death with these new additions. We need to make moves soon... "Walk before you run" - CUSA (or a similar conference) before you get a big conference invite

"WE ARE LOUISIANA: There is confusion among the national
sports organizations as how to refer to the Ragin' Cajuns."

Why compromise, What rule or law says that out athletic team can't be called Louisiana or Louisiana Ragin Cajuns? And demand it from all sport broadcasters. And have the score board read, "Louisiana and ULM" period.

While I agree with everything you are saying about the Sunbelt, don't think that La Tech would not do everything possible to keep us from using Louisiana or UL too.

Ruston would everything in their power to keep us from being called Louisiana. The name issue will not change if we were in Conference USA.

And Monroe will never move down to FCS.

Yes, we found a loophole in the law. That obviously isn't enough to convince ESPN, the AP, a million other news agencies, and our own conference to call us Louisiana. I don't want to win small battles. It's not enough that the Advertiser, CBS, and S.I. call us Louisiana. We need total victory. And I don't ever see that happening as long as ULM is in the picture fighting us.

I can't reiterate this enough, grant their red herring wishes.

Two questions; Which one sticks when coupled with Louisiana, Cajuns or bird?

Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns or Louisiana WarHawks?

Come on guys, T-Joe is a master at compromise. The deal will be Moanroe can call themselves whatever they want because he negotiated our departure from the Sun Belt.

Yep. I hope the conference office grants their wishes and calls their bluff. Louisiana Warhawks and Louisiana Ragin Cajuns it is. No more ULL or ULM. Let's see who comes out on top in the long run. They want to be cute and trivial about it, let's do it.

I can agree with you. I would just prefer to fight tech each yr for a conference title in CUSA, instead of Phil Robertson community college in the SBC. If you want to get better and challenge yourself then you need to play tougher competition. SBC is a "Dead Man Walking"... With the direction it is heading, the SBC will prob fold by 2020...if not sooner

Cusa is not tougher competition, it is simply better perception. Cusa is full of our ex conference mates...a southern miss who hasn't won a game in 3 years. The top of the belt would beat top of cusa majority of the time.
