Thread: FAU Wins NO Bowl!

  1. UL Football FAU Wins NO Bowl!

NEW ORLEANS - Don't blame the Florida Atlantic players for looking a little wide-eyed over the past few days. The Owl football team has never been in this situation before.

It's old hat for Memphis, this bowl stuff, but the Tigers are plenty excited, too. It's here, in the shadows of Bourbon Street, where it all jump-started for the Memphis program.

The two 7-5 teams don't care that they're playing in only the second of what will eventually be 32 bowl games over the next two weeks - or a bowl that most Crescent City fans look on as a stepchild bowl. They only care that they're in the seventh R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, squaring off at 7 p.m. tonight in the Louisiana Superdome.

It's the first bowl appearance for FAU, which didn't have a football team as recently as 2000 but won a share of the Sun Belt Conference title this season thanks to a series of close victories.

isn't being young supposed to be an excuse for losing?

    Only at "the U"!

Congrats to the Owls on their 44-27 victory over Memphis. Great job representin' for the SBC! It's amazing that a program that didn't exist when we beat Texas A&M has blown past us to get to AND WIN a bowl game. We're still waiting.

They have many excuses for losing around here:
    1. Not enough money. Never mind programs with less beat us.
    2. LSU. Never mind that their success helps support our pathetic program.
    3. President Authement. He is gone but will still be used as an excuse for many years to come. Never mind the success of the late 80's and early 90's.
    4. Youth! As soon as we are losing a cult fan will come on here and tell you it is youth! We will be better next year just wait.
    5. We can't make students pay for sports. well that has changed now also. We just need to win. As Al Davis said just win Baby!

As for me after 25 years of supporting this pathetic program. You got to show me something mister before I come back. If not you are supporting more of the same. Pay for crap and that is what you get.
