Troy is for real. All of this talk about FAU in the preseason made me laugh. I thought that this year would be that overrated year for them since they got all of the breaks last year and did play well but kind of got lucky in some of their wins. I think that Troy's talent level is just a notch above everyone else's in the belt which to me, puts them as favorites just about any year. That D is fast and physical and Hampton is much quicker than I thought he'd be. _
I want to say I made a post before the season started saying this samething and you were one who agreed with me. I guess we are pretty smart

Is Troys QB ok? I saw he was hurt last night but didn't hang around to see how it turned out.

  3. Default Re: Opponent View: UNT coach wants more consistency

I found this on a UNT Blog

"UNT head coach Todd Dodge said today that he is thinking about moving Eddrick Gilmore inside to defensive tackle at times in the Mean Green's game against Louisiana-Lafayette this week. UNT will be without tackles Joseph Miller and Charlie Brown, which could spell trouble against the Ragin' Cajuns running game that is cranking out 300 yards a game." LINK

I hope Coach Dodd gets his wish...his team can be consistant and continue to lose this Saturday.

  5. UL Football Football: Mid-Week Practice Report

Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns practiced on Sunday evening at Cajun Field following Saturday’s thrilling victory at ULM. The team had learned earlier in the day that running back Tyrell Fenroy was named the Walter Camp Football Foundation Bowl Subdivision Offensive Player of the Week.

As usual, the team practiced in full pads on Tuesday and shorts and shoulder pads on Wednesday. The Cajuns will practice on Thursday before departing via charter bus on Friday afternoon for Denton, Texas.

  6. UL Football Five questions for defensive backs coach Hurlie Brown...

Five questions for defensive backs coach Hurlie Brown...

Q How did practice go this week?

Brown: "We’ve had some good practices. The guys are focused and anxious to play again. The attitude hasn’t changed – the guys come out ready to practice. They know what we are trying to do and what our goals are. They make mistakes, but we learn from them.”

Q What are your impressions of North Texas?

Brown: "They have lost some games, but they have been in those games. If the ball bounces a different way then there might have been a different outcome in those games. Things haven’t really gone their way, but with a couple of breaks (North Texas) will hurt you. We have to be on top of our game.”

Q What does the scouting report say about the North Texas offense?

Brown: "They will throw the ball and throw it well. Their quarterback is tough, physical and strong. They also have two good running backs and a good core of receivers so you can’t key on one guy.”

Q What are the Cajuns strengths?

Brown: "It’s our workman-like mentality. They guys come to work everyday and that’s all you can ask. The confidence is growing, but they also understand that we are not where we need to be. The challenge is to get better every week. We watch film and see all the mistakes and the guys feel like they can work hard and correct those mistakes.”

Q Is the team ready to breathe a sigh of relief after playing five of the first six games on the road?

Brown: “I don’t think the guys look at playing on the road as a negative. We are focused on getting better everyday at practice. They guys are in the zone and ready to play this Saturday. We haven’t looked ahead or behind us at any point this season.”

Sure would be nice to see Derrick Smith get off his butt and have a nice game this weekend. He is so valuable to a passing game that needs to get close to 200 or more yards a game to help balance the offense out.

  9. UL Football Texas ties make UNT trip special

All the chatter gets louder the closer UL's football team moves toward the weekend.

For 11 players on the Ragin' Cajuns' travel squad, the trip on Saturday to play Sun Belt foe North Texas in Denton is more than just another conference game.

It's also a chance to play in the state where they played high school ball or have some family connection.

UL left guard Brad Bustle has heard plenty from his Texas teammates about their homecoming this weekend.

"They talk about it (going home) a lot," Bustle said. "They like to play in front of their families. Being in Louisiana, they don't get to (do that) a lot.

While I'm cautiously optimistic, we still haven't done much this year. We've beaten Lame-O and a not-so-good Kent State team.

Bowl talk is a tad premature.

I am with you CDEB. We still have to win 4 games just to become bowl eligible. Hopefully we can win the next 4, but we MUST WIN in Denton.
