just making a point that just because he is cleared to play by the ncaa does not mean he can play anywhere in the country. i'm sure there are kids out there that we would love to take a chance on but we cant b/c of our admission standards. the poster said that he was cleared to play anywhere in the country, which the ncaa cannot say you are cleared to play at one school and not another. you are either cleared to play or not, where depends on the schools standards.

Glad to see you seem to understand. As they said in the Godfather, "Its the business we have chosen" and no room for personal preferences or what even seems most logical sometimes. I saw a La Tech poster state that neither USM or Tulane would play them because we are "scared" and might lose a recruiting edge. First, USM holds a dominant winning record over La Tech. Secondly, we go after same recruits sometimes but USM barely loses. Fact is, of Techs 4 commitments so far and 11 for USM I think only two were considering both schools and USM snagged both. Tech recruits in Texas and USM seldom goes there. Truth of the matter is, USM cant afford a one and one with Tech because it throws off the scheduling balance. If they want to come down one and done or ten and done then it could be arranged. USM will not go to Ruston. Ms State AD set up a one and one with them and it was huge factor in him getting canned.
Louisiana schools have higher admittance standards than Miss school - take much higher ACT scores.
lsu act minimum 22 usm act minimum 18 and beginning in 2009 lsu will have additional requirements in place.
Important to note that Fenroy is starting his Senior campaign.
Fletch is starting his junior campaign.
Not taking anything away from your tank of a RB though- he worries me when put against our fresh D-line.
Do you really think that LSU would turn down one of the top HS players in the country over an ACT score? Yeah, right. Look at some of the shady characters they've gotten on campus in the past. And do you really think that they sent their entire offensive coaching staff to his house the night before he announced to tell him that they didn't want him? If you believe any of that, I've got some property to sell you here in MS. It's got a great view of Rocky Mountain snow-capped peaks.
Word from the ticket office is that we're expecting a sellout Saturday.
I'm from Ocean Springs- born and raised- so take it for what it's worth.
DB's mom was flat out insulted by the LSU staff. Especially after one of Miles' assistants was so dumbfounded that he would even consider USM or LSU, the assistant asked DB's mom is USM was bribing him. She kicked that particular assistant out of her house.
They also kept tabs on him at school and home, even to go as far as to keep a car down at the end of his street to see if there were any other coaching staff's coming to the Brown home.
More than a handful of the guys who played with DB at the MS/AL All-Star game had committed to USM (by way of Tony Hughes really), DB liked playing with those guys and it was close to home. Fedora sold him on the system and THAT, friends, is how we got DB (and by way of DB, we got Bret Jefcoat)
