I said "some" of these caliber teams. Consider our record versus these teams:

    RICE
    COLORADO STATE
    UNLV
    TULSA
    FRESNO STATE
    EAST CAROLINA

    ...for these years:

    '77-'90---21-8 record

You can call it whatever you like, but that's more than just being competitive.

I think what the other poster was getting at is that for a couple of decades, Cajun fans could go into a game with any of the schools we've been talking about in this thread and expect to if not win it, at least play a good competitve game. We didn't sit around and discuss ways we could somehow surprise them and steal it.

The mindset back then was the same mindset we have today in regards to our conference mates. Although, we haven't done a very good job in this regard either lately .

As for the USM game this season, if our pony is doing its "one trick" very well, we have a chance. If not, it could be a long night.

My guess was 11, yours was 17, correct?

I believe we have a draw! (Unless of course we agree to Price is Right rules... )

  7. Default USM suspends #2 and #3 Running backs

    From ESPN.com

Southern Miss reserve running back Tory Harrison remains suspended following a March 11 arrest for marijuana possession. Harrison, expected to be Damion Fletcher's primary backup following the indefinite suspension of Antwain Easterling, was charged with possession of marijuana (more than one ounce) with intent to distribute. A police spokeswoman told the Hattiesburg American that Harrison had 5 pounds of marijuana at the time of his arrest.

Harrison started two games last season for the Golden Eagles, rushing for 393 yards and five touchdowns. With both Harrison and Easterling out, sophomore V.J. Floyd moves into the primary backup role.

Easterling has troubles even before he went to USM. I remember they did a feature on him on ESPN one time

Easterling was an overrated bust from the moment he stepped on campus. He got thrown off the team and it was a good thing. Harrison was a good running back, but he liked the weed more than football, so good riddance. Here is an article on the current #2 running back...

We also have a top rated true freshman running back in Desmond Johnson. He chose USM over Michigan.
