thats interesting. i thought the winner of the sun belt had to play in NO bowl. now that i know if we do happen to win the sun belt, we can choose, i think it would be cool to go to indy bowl. with that said, i also would like to see us in NO bowl; plus the party after would be a heck of a lot funner in New Orleans.

I don't want anything that has any possibility of distracting the guys from their true task to enter the mindset. A loss on Saturday and we will only be 4 and 4. At that point, all of this postseason play talk will look silly. _

If players read this and do anything but use it as incentive to keep playing hard, I don't want them playing for us. That would mean they would have a complacent attitude, and we are far from anywhere warranting a complacent attitude.

You obviously have not been to Shreveport lately. There are plenty places to party in Shreveport now a days. The Boardwalk and the Casinos are great on the river.

It's totally ridiculous to think that our being excited about bowl possibilities, and discussing them, is going to DISTRACT our team. Nonsense. First, this constant hum of "one game at a time" isn't correct anyway. For the players, it's "one play at a time". But again, they don't get wound around the sprocket because of our silly chatter... unless it's abusing them... and especially by name.

And more... they are as likely to elevate play by the exciting prospect of going to a bowl as they are to get overconfident or distracted by it. It is the coaching staff's role to keep the team focused on the fundamentals that lead to the next victory. That is as fundamental in coaching as teaching a scheme.

I hope we go to the NO bowl regardless if we have another bowl offer. We could make a serious statement with the haul of fans at the dome. The overwhelming fan force will make the atmosphere outstanding for fans and the team, we get more local media attention and showcasing for recruiting in our area, and much more.

Oh... but first we must beat FIU and play every down like we intend to score on offense, and every down like we are going to force a turnover on defense. Every down.

A Sun Belt Conference Champ winning the NOLA Bowl.

A runner up Sun Belt team winning the Independence Bowl against a BCS school?

Which would garner more respect? _

Would much rather play in the Independence bowl. The opponent would be more prestigious and the payout is triple what it is in the NO Bowl. If it meant winning out except Troy and conceding the conference championship, I'd prefer it to be honest.

And a championship. Both come with winning out. Playing anybody in any other bowl except a BCS bowl, or the New Orleans Bowl is not a step a step up from my view of things.
