I love to look ahead and it tells a lot on whether to keep a coach or not---how many can we sign this year and what do we need----why does ULM, Tech, Tulane , and others have the commits and we have none????--we lose some of the most talented kids ever to play at UL-----Cherry, Smith, Fenroy, Des, and some line guys---Do we JUCO????

It would be great if he was a future HOF'er. Then his jersey would skyrocket in value. Not a bad investment ($25 on ebay).

  4. UL Football Milestones Marks and Arrivals in ASU Game

A healthy crowd welcomed UL's football team home on Saturday night for its second home game of the season.

The Ragin' Cajuns rallied from a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter for a 28-23 win over Arkansas State before 23,684 at Cajun Field.

It was the program's largest home crowd since 33,828 fans saw UL's 38-17 loss to McNeese State on Sept. 15, 2007.

"The fans were awesome," UL coach Rickey Bustle said. "And we appreciate it so much."

  5. UL Football Cajuns suddenly in command of SBC

The celebration started for UL as soon as Arkansas State's last-second Hail Mary pass fell harmlessly to the turf in the end zone with no time remaining.

Within seconds, injured quarterback Mike Desormeaux showed as much excitement as one could with a sprained right knee. He soon found redshirt freshman Brad McGuire, who led the Ragin' Cajuns on two scoring drives in the fourth quarter to rally for Saturday's 28-23 win at Cajun Field.

The fallen leader and his replacement hugged at midfield. They thanked each other for their support. McGuire wept.

"I'm so overjoyed," Desormeaux said, almost yelling in excitement. "I was a little disappointed (I couldn't play) before the game started.

    "But I'm fine now."

    Now his team is, too.

  6. UL Football Next: FIU football team gets hard lesson at Troy

TROY, Ala. -- As FIU trudged toward its locker room at Movie Gallery Stadium after its 33-23 loss to Troy on Saturday night, a crowd of Trojans fans gave the Golden Panthers a round of applause and shouted several words of encouragement.

The Troy faithful were overheard saying: ''Y'all have gotten much better since last year. Keep it up.'' They also said: ``With the way you guys are improving, we'll be walking into a hornets nest next year at your new stadium.''

In past seasons, the Golden Panthers (3-4, 2-1 Sun Belt) would have welcomed such accolades.

However, they have given up a lot of points and yards so I won't annoint them as the second coming of the steel curtain but we certainly have some pieces in place for a great D for the next several years. _

Defense played great, but let's not forget for the most part no pressure on the quarterback, important stupid penalties on ASU devastated them when they had golden opportunities to score, easy catchable passes dropped that were delivered on target by their QB. So yes we played better, but they had a big hand in their own defeat. But in the past we have stolen defeat from the jaws of victory so I take their penalties, dropped passes with pleasure.

I also think any talk of things like bowls is completely premature. I know it is just fans having fun. However, I like to think of things the way coaches should. Focus this week should be on getting healthy and fundamentals. Next week focus should be on preparing for FIU. Nothing else should be in the mindset. Looking ahead is how you dreams are prevented from coming true.

We only gave up 13 points on defense. The first field goal by ASU was set up by an interception.
