  When it comes to defense, UL's football team has suffered through an identity crisis at times this season.

The worse experience came in a 51-21 loss at Southern Miss to open the season. The Cajuns allowed USM to gain a school-record 633 yards, including 427 rushing, in the win.

Fortunately for UL, its young defense that starts only two seniors has improved over time.

After allowing an average of 34.7 points and 458.5 yards in their first six games, the Cajuns have given up only 21.5 points and 302.5 yards in wins over Arkansas State and Florida International.

This is great. I hope these things are publicized heavily. Fenroy being nicknamed the T-Train with the train horn during the game along with this, although people may not believe it, will help with recruiting. Just imagine a RB prospect in the crowd hearing the train horn every time Fenroy busts one thinking "that could be me." I'm not for recruiting "me" guys, but to make it in D-1 football you have to have some kind of arrogant chip on your shoulder.

If I were Dr. Savoie, I'd put out a challenge to students- Fill the red zone (and I mean FILL- every seat taken by a student or a student escort ticket) and you get your free tailgating back.

I agree with others who stated that students have NO idea how lucky they are when it comes to free admission to sporting events at the university. Even student escort tickets are a complete bargain. When I was an undergrad back in the late 80s, student escort tickets cost 5 bucks. Today, they cost only 8 bucks.

Here's what the students aren't telling you.........

Student tailgaiting IS free.

The entire east side of the stadium is reserved for student tailgaiting on a first come-first served basis.

The moaning and _____ing is coming from the areas that have been used by students, but were available to everyone on a first come first served basis.

The problems arose when folks started showing up to claim those spots before the time set up by the university, which was causing a cluster.....

In retrospect, the administration agrees that they should have done this prior to the start of the season.

But this business of screwing the poor poor students is bogus. They still have the whole east side of the stadium. And, it's free.

Students at TAMU must pay $200 a year out of pocket for a football pass, $300 for all sports.

And I know the inevitable response will be, "But we aren't TAMU."

1) Given what the Aggies are putting on the field this year, UL students are getting infinitely more bang for the buck.

2) We will never BE any of those universities if we don't start acting like them.
