thats interesting. i thought the winner of the sun belt had to play in NO bowl. now that i know if we do happen to win the sun belt, we can choose, i think it would be cool to go to indy bowl. with that said, i also would like to see us in NO bowl; plus the party after would be a heck of a lot funner in New Orleans.

_ The reason I discourage this kind of premature talk is that there may be team members who read the board. I don't want anything that has any possibility of distracting the guys from their true task to enter the mindset. A loss on Saturday and we will only be 4 and 4. At that point, all of this postseason play talk will look silly. _

If players read this and do anything but use it as incentive to keep playing hard, I don't want them playing for us. That would mean they would have a complacent attitude, and we are far from anywhere warranting a complacent attitude.

You obviously have not been to Shreveport lately. There are plenty places to party in Shreveport now a days. The Boardwalk and the Casinos are great on the river.

It's totally ridiculous to think that our being excited about bowl possibilities, and discussing them, is going to DISTRACT our team. Nonsense. First, this constant hum of "one game at a time" isn't correct anyway. For the players, it's "one play at a time". But again, they don't get wound around the sprocket because of our silly chatter... unless it's abusing them... and especially by name.

And more... they are as likely to elevate play by the exciting prospect of going to a bowl as they are to get overconfident or distracted by it. It is the coaching staff's role to keep the team focused on the fundamentals that lead to the next victory. That is as fundamental in coaching as teaching a scheme.

I hope we go to the NO bowl regardless if we have another bowl offer. We could make a serious statement with the haul of fans at the dome. The overwhelming fan force will make the atmosphere outstanding for fans and the team, we get more local media attention and showcasing for recruiting in our area, and much more.

Oh... but first we must beat FIU and play every down like we intend to score on offense, and every down like we are going to force a turnover on defense. Every down.

A Sun Belt Conference Champ winning the NOLA Bowl.

A runner up Sun Belt team winning the Independence Bowl against a BCS school?

Which would garner more respect? _

Would much rather play in the Independence bowl. The opponent would be more prestigious and the payout is triple what it is in the NO Bowl. If it meant winning out except Troy and conceding the conference championship, I'd prefer it to be honest.

And a championship. Both come with winning out. Playing anybody in any other bowl except a BCS bowl, or the New Orleans Bowl is not a step a step up from my view of things.

  UL — It’s easy to become infatuated with the hype for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s 1,000th football game Saturday, ULL defensive line coach Gerald Broussard said.

Just ask UL players Derik Keyes and Richie Falgout.

“It’s great to be a part of something like that, playing in that kind of game in a season like this,” Keyes, a starting strong safety, said.

Like Keyes, Falgout grew up around ULL football.

“Playing in the 1,000th game means a lot, especially for me, being from Lafayette. I know there’s a lot of history in this program and there are a lot of great people who have played here,” Falgout said.

Broussard, however, said there’s more to the Cajun Field homecoming game against Florida International than historical significance.

You know I am not going to continue to defend owners. There are far too many examples proving they are in it for themselves first, and last. I do however recall enjoying the Oilers, and the then coach Jeff Fisher. Now everything changed except Mr. Fisher. I still think he is a heck of a coach, and doing a heck of a job both in Houston and Nashville.

Owners who have held up cities besides Bud.

1: No. 1 all time Al Davis, who invented the modern era of free agent franchises, first an Oakland Raiders, then L A Raiders, and back again as an Oakland Raiders.

2: Second most hated owner Robert Irsay, snuck off in a MayFlower Van in the dead of night.

3: Art Modell comes in third. Wanting more revenue, and a better stadium he filled the void of the Colts departure from Baltimore. In an agreement to avoid possible litigation he agreed to leave the name Browns, and records with the city of Cleveland. The NFL agreed to give them a new franchise.

4: Bud Adams, No. 4 most hated number one in the hearts of Houstonians.

5: Tom "Terrific" Benson comes in 5th only because the NFL refused his gambit to relocate to San Antonio while New Orleans was eight feet under water for almost a month. Tom Terrific was saved from himself by then commissioner Paul Taglibau otherwise he would go down as the dirtiest owner of all time, leaving a city that was flat on it's back.

6: Georgia Frontiere married seven times hit the jackpot when she married Carroll Rosenbloom for her sixth husband. After his death she took over the franchise and eventually moved to St. Louis. I mean you really can't hate her too much, Los Angeles has made it clear they only support the Lakers, USC football, UCLA basketball, O J Simpson, Robert Blake, Michael Jackson, and Disneyland.

although i think your comparison of partying in shreveport to new orleans is laughable, I totally agree with you on this. UL's goal every year is to compete for a conference championship; whatever bowl may come is secondary. It doesnt matter if indy bowl pays more. everyone on this board would like to see the cajuns become a contender. we do that by winning games and conference championships. imo, the bowl games will come if we keep doing our job on the field year in and year out.
