UL - Rickey Bustle’s assessment of preseason strengths and weaknesses for his University of Louisiana at Lafayette football team looks something like this:
Offense: solid.
Kicking game: solid.
Defense: work in progress.
UL’s defense — the one that returns much of the same cast that finished at the bottom of several Sun Belt Conference categories — is crucial in determining if the Cajuns improve on last season’s 3-9 record, the Cajuns coach said.
UL has less than a month to judge whether some of the defensive problems are corrected. ULL opens at Southern Miss on Aug. 30.
UL completed spring training by mid-March and the long interval gave his team more time to recover from injuries, especially on the offensive line, Bustle said.

Sometimes we are UL and other times we are UL-L...which is it? We open against Southern Mississippi as UL and we are the University of Louisiana at Lafayette when giving our strengths and weaknesses. Then we are UL in giving the information on defense, UL judgeing if the defensive problems are corrected and UL explaining where we are after spring training.
Now you want to know why the media dosn't know what to call us when the local medea has no clue.

UL football players and coaches gathered for a team meeting on Sunday afternoon, officially kicking off the start of preseason camp for the 2008 season.
During the meeting Rickey Bustle glanced across the room and saw some familiar faces. The Ragin' Cajun head coach saw a few new ones, too.
Those faces shared a common look.
"The thing I saw was guys glad to be back, glad to see each other and glad to take the next step," Bustle said. "That enthusiasm hasn't always been there. I was glad to see that."
As of Sunday afternoon, the Cajuns had welcomed 103 players to campus for the team meeting, equipment fittings and physical exams. Included among those players were "23 or 24" freshmen, Bustle said.
