Easterling was an overrated bust from the moment he stepped on campus. He got thrown off the team and it was a good thing. Harrison was a good running back, but he liked the weed more than football, so good riddance. Here is an article on the current #2 running back...

We also have a top rated true freshman running back in Desmond Johnson. He chose USM over Michigan.
The buzz has started around the Louisiana athletic complex as various entities are making their last minute preparations. While the coaches consistently tweak their playbooks, other areas have or will be finishing their assigned duties. Media guides have been printed, equipment is unpacked and training supplies are ready for the start of the 2008 football season.
The only thing missing is the players, but they will report on Sunday, August 3 for the start of season seven under head coach Rickey Bustle.
The team will have a quick meeting before undergoing physical examinations on Sunday afternoon. On Monday, August 4, the first practice of fall camp begins at 3:30pm - rain or shine - thanks to the Leon Moncla Indoor Practice Facility.
A rigorous camp full of academic sessions, video study, weight training and practice follows for the next 17 days. Fall camp will conclude with a scrimmage on Wednesday, August 20. The team will break camp and begin game-week preparations for the opener at Southern Mississippi (8/30) a few days early starting on Thursday, August 21.
Acadiana is invited to attend the Cajuns Annual Fall Sports Fan Day on Sunday, August 10 at 6pm at Cajun Field. A record crowd turned out to last season’s event and the athletic department has more in store for this season’s Fan Day.
It has USM as a 14 pt. favorite. I am really surprised at that number. With a new qb, new complete dline and new coaching staff for USM, that number seems high.

Sorry, missed your post. I believe the new additions will make the total capacity like 38,000. Here are some pictures showing the new end zone addition that will include 34 suites.

I am betting on Cajuns. The line is just way out of whack. USM is not considered one of the best CUSA teams this year and sunbelt has played even or better with CUSA in the past two years. If Cajuns lose this game by 10, I would be dissapointed. Even if Cajuns were to have a mediocre season, they could still win this game. I think the line should be USM -5.
The spread is way off. UL takes USM in this one. We may even do it in convincing style.
People forget why there is a spread in the first place. The bookies set the spread to maximize their take. If more people are picking UL +14, then the bookie will adjust the spread to get more people to pick USM. It's not completely about what the bookie thinks will happen, it's about what gets him the most money.
You are correct, but the bookie and casino start the betting line on what they think is the correct take on a game because they know most betters have a reasonable idea of where the value lies. After that the line moves strictly to get as many dollars on team A as on team B.
You are both correct... and that generally makes Vegas very good at picking reasonable spreads. They have a lot on the line and no bias whatsoever in their pick.
UL's 3-9 season last year is the biggest contributor, nationally, to our unheralded 2008 preseason status... and rightfully so. There are certainly historical reasons to give USM a fair edge, but nothing historical is going to play into this one. The betting isn't going to move the spread very much. The national betters will flip a coin on the spread. No one has a clue how these two teams match up. Don't expect the spread to change more than a point unless USM posts some significantly negative news between now (not just a couple of suspensions) and the kickoff.
