So we have two all conference first team players, and picked middle of the pack. Says a lot about the coach, and/or surrounding cast. Take your pick. Frankly I think both Marlin, and the surrounding cast are going to do a great job.
I do not understand that either. I think we are much improved and will compete for the conference crown. With the conference tournament in New Orleans this year I am hoping we can pack that place.

With the start of the 2013-14 season just 10 days away, Elfrid Payton and Shawn Long earned additional preseason accolades as both were named to the Sun Belt Conference Preseason team. _In addition, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns were picked to finish in a fourth place tie with league newcomer Georgia State when the Sun Belt released the results of its annual preseason coaches poll on Wednesday.
I've told a few people. In my opinion, the SBC is the deepest its been in awhile. There is no runaway like MT last year. But, I think the conference is going to beat up on each other. There may not be that many differnces in the W column, between 1st and 2, 3, 4 or even 5.
Agree (not that you were asking), we need to steal a few games on the road and make the Cajundome a tough place to play like Cajun Field.

I am looking forward to seeing what Georgia State has that even the coaches in this conference think they can come in here and be successful right off the jump. Yes, I know about R. J. Hunter and Ryan Harrow, but, ...well, I want to see this. If they are successful, it will justify my belief that uptempo is what wins in this conference, not half court, defensive-minded, boring basketball.
It's not.
My picks:
1. Western Kentucky
2. South Alabama
3. Louisiana
4. Arkansas-Little Rock
5. Arkansas State
6. Georgia State
7. Texas-Arlington*
8. Texas State*
9. Troy*
10. ULM
*7-9 are interchangeable.
Rubit's a no-brainer for pre-season player of the year, but he will get competition for the year end award.
Elfrid Peyton and Shawn Long will dominate the Sun Belt this year. I expect Peyton to average a double double and so will Long. We just need to get above average production consistently out of Kevin Brown and Mbambalou (sp?). JJ Davenport will play a large role in the success of the Cajuns as well if he can rebound well and defend in the post. I'll be ecstatic if he can average around 8ppg and 8rpg.
