Yes they do have a "spring" in their step! Good things coming to the Earl K. Long building! This team will be a major player in the future of UL sports. Hopefully in the next few years they will be considered an important part of UL sports as football, softball and basketball are. Volleyball is a growing sport. Get behind this team as they are going to do good things. JMO
LAFAYETTE – Head coach Heather Mazeitis and the Ragin’ Cajuns volleyball team host Nicholls State, Southeastern Louisiana, ULM and McNeese State this weekend in the second of two spring tournaments to be held at Earl K. Long Gym. The one-day, round-robin event kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday. The Cajuns are also busy with the Texas Tornados spring tournament next weekend in Houston, and the "Queen of the Swamp" intrasquad tournament.
Louisiana will split into two squads for Saturday's tournament, UL Red and UL Black, and each will play in four different matches, consisting of two 25-point sets. Of the six teams, four will play at a time on two courts at Long Gym, and the inactive teams will provide officiating for the matches.
The Ragin’ Cajuns spring tournament is open to spectators at no cost.
"The tournament this weekend will be a wonderful opportunity for all of our student-athletes to get some playing time," Mazeitis said. "We are breaking up into two teams, and that gives different players an opportunity to get in a lot of reps and really improve."
The Cajuns also look forward to a spring tournament hosted by the Texas Tornados volleyball club in Houston next Saturday, April 4. During the tournament, the Cajuns will compete against other collegiate teams including Baylor, Texas, Southern Methodist and Colorado.
“The Texas Tornados tournament is an exciting event, because we get to play against top competition, including three teams from the Big 12 and one from Conference USA," Mazeitis said. "The team is improving steadily and I will be anxious to see what they do against some great competition in our last tournament of the spring.”
The team is also playing in its own tournament, a "king of the beach" style two-on-two beach volleyball tournament the Cajuns have dubbed "Queen of the Swamp". Currently in day four of eight, Kendra Hall and Lindsay Brown lead the competition so far.
Louisiana held its first spring tournament on Saturday, Feb. 28, hosting Nicholls State and Southeastern Louisiana. In 10 45-minute, 25-point games, the Cajuns went 8-2 behind strong performances by setter Kendra Hall and many others.

It sounds like the ladies did very well again this past weekend. This week in Texas will be a true test. They play The University of Texas, Baylor, Colorado and S.M.U. What a line up! I was hoping we could get down there, but the airline prices have really shot up! If anyone is planning on being there we would be grateful to see or get some pictures of the match against Texas. It's killing us not to be there. Good luck ladies in Houston and play tall!

The team did very well in Texas. They beat S.M.U. Lost the other matches but played very well against the University of Texas Orange team that featured some top players in the country. The lost 25-15 and 25-21. Not bad! Daughter said it was a very good match. This team will compete in the SunBelt this year. LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS FALL.
Geaux Cajuns!
Congrats to Coach Mazeitis on her wedding today in New Orleans! Well, guess it's not Coach Mazeitis anymore. Daughter said it was a great ceremony. They had a little parade down Bourbon Street after,etc... Best of luck Coach.
