UL Football 11-2... Is winning out (Bowl included) enough to get into the Top 25?

It would be nice to see...

11-2 would get us in top 25, possibly top 20.

    Its possible, but not definite.

Allot of things would have to happen and depend on other teams, my best guess is we would have a handfull of votes in the coaches polls, but we would not get in overall.

It's possible, but a lot of things would have to fall into place. You could bet on the fact that we would be close and would recieve a good number of votes. If we had won one of those first two games, 12-1 would definitely get us there.

12-1 with a BCS win would have gotten us into the top 16 IMHO.

Finishing the season at 10-2 could get us in the top 25, obviously depending on how things shake out for the rest of the top 25 when we get there. But 11-2, without a doubt. Without a doubt. You win your final 11 in a row... without a doubt. I know that the opponents aren't considered worth a damn... but you win your final 11 in a row... against any line up... you will get in the top 25. The fact that we carry two 9-4 seasons in a row, with bowl wins into the picture... the votes will arrive come that day.

But... we have a lot of work to do to get there... and I'd rather not have this thread at this point.

Those two early bad losses to two not very good teams are going to hurt our chances. Plus we still have lots of football to be played....anything can happen at this point.

Well I doubt it, we would have had to leapfrog FresNeck, and N Illinois. There will be plenty of AQ schools with enough pull to end up in top 25 vs a 12-1 UL. FresNeck and N Illinois could go to 14-0 after their bowls. One is probably in a BCS bowl and depending on their opponent it might get that 14th win.

Cajuns at 12-1 with a SBC schedule probably not a top 25 team. Of course maybe next year when the conference gets even weaker we get a chance to be 14-0 if we add a championship game. 14-0 gets us top 25.

I wouldn't call those first two games bad losses. Two middle of the road BCS teams that we were not favored against. We could have lost to Akron...that would be a bad loss.

Against last two opponents, Hogs 7 - Opponents 104.

True. K-State is probably the best 3-4 team in the country. They just happened to play Texas, OkState, and Baylor all in a row. They lost all those in the 4th quarter. Very close games. I am curious to see how they finish the season.

After watching damn near 3 full seasons of Hud football, I'm convinced that his teams get better as the year grows. I can assure you that we would win one of those two BCS games if we played them today.

I think if we played Arkansas now, it would be a much better game. Not sure if we would win, but we are better today then we were vs Arkansas and they are worse today then against us.

We always start the season off slow, we played like SHI& in that game. I think we would probably beat them now. Not so sure about KSU. I think they are a better team than the 3-4 record indicates.
