Default Picard Center is 6 Years Old

This is one of the biggest things UL has landed in our history. It is greatly enhancing our influence in the Capitol, and with educators across the state, and our academic reputation across the US and beyond.

And it will continue to grow.

Will this eventually be transferred to the LSU Board--I mean education being so important to let UL a member of the UL Board handle this!!!!! Also Ole Billy Ray is an alumnus of Tech---maybe it will go to Ruston----Yes I tease but stranger things in this state have occurred on a regular basis!!!!

Loyd Rockhold (it was originally going to be the Rockhold Center) was an LSU alum, and it was supposed to go to LSU.

    LSU screwed the pooch.

And despite being a La Tech alum, it was Stokes who brought the Center to UL, with Rockhold's blessing. There were several reasons for that, but one of the main ones was that UL alum Picard was a fierce advocate of the Center, regardless of where it was located.

The state is constructing a beautiful building for them in the UL Research Park, most of their staff and tenants are UL alums & faculty, they have research and institutional ties across campus, and we give them their political clout.

    That Center isn't going anywhere.

I am hearing that the Lombardi/Martin adminstration at LSU has alienated some top donors, plus quite a few out-of-state alumni by eliminating their Bengal Legacy Scholarship. So, I am not surprised at the Rockhold issue - maybe LSU is beginning to destroy itself from the inside. Their next big capital fund campaign which was to start this past spring has not yet begun, at least that is what I am hearing.

We are lucky to have Savoie who is further uniting the university and making it stronger.

To describe this year's legislative session as tough is an understatement. Programs and funding were cut as our state representatives and senators worked to balance the state's budget while keeping the most vital and meaningful services primarily intact.

    The rest of the story
