When Rodney Gillis went down with a broken ankle and a broken bone in his lower left leg during an Oct. 5 win over Texas State, the first thoughts from T.J. Worthy and Sean Thomas centered around UL's sixth-year senior.

Gillis - already playing in an extra season on an NCAA medical-hardship waiver because he had missed two prior seasons due to major knee surgeries - was one-third of the Ragin' Cajuns two-spot, three-man safety rotation this season.
