I just caught BOP talking with someone (I think it was Gerald Hebert) during the baseball game today, and they announced that they're going to start on the field this next week and will have the new turf in by July. WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!

Got from a higher up, the field is FIELD TURF, the work starts the 17th and they are also going to have to widen the entrance to Tunnel for dump trucks to manuever in and out of field.
I do not revel my sources unless they say it is ok. I did not ask him so I will not divulge his name at this time. All I can say, he is well connected with athletic department.
Go figure

"widen the entrance to Tunnel"
Seems like a bigger project than the turf.
i would be impressed to find out we are in fact using the Field Turf brand. GO UL
seems to me it would be easier to make a temporary ramp down the hill. Let the dump trucks come in through the main gates...not the swamp gates but the other ones. I could be wrong but it seems to me its easier this way than to burrow out extra tunnel. Another option could be to dump the contents of the trucks outside and use a steady stream of payloaders to haul the dirt in through the tunnel as is. I know payloaders will fit through there.
I would be happy if the company really is Field Turf. I'v always liked the fields at Ohio State and Cinncy Bengals, just because they don't look anything like fake turf. Field Turf did both of those fields.
And, you can't have those trucks come down the inside because it would be too steep. plus, they probably just need to widen the entrance. There is a long wall that runs almost all the way to the athletic building. They would just need to take out part of that wall so the trucks could have enough turning room.
Where is Doc Zap on this --I hope we don't open at home ---How many months late was the Indoor facility??? We are already very close to May!!! New tunnel or widder??? This seems huge to me--What about the pumps etc.?????
I was told also that the Camera system to update us with pics as the progress is taking place is already up. This will be fun to watch whether you are in Cajun Country or anywhere else.

When I watched an installation video from the Pro turf people last week, i think they started on Apr 27, and were done in about 2 months an 1-2 weeks. So, that July 1 date should be pretty accurate. Let's just hope we don't have a crazy rainy couple of months.
You know what they say, April Showers bring late completion dates on turf installations.
