New Turf on Cajun Field

where did you hear that from? I think I remember hearing people a couple months ago saying that this wasn't something that we are doing anytime soon, if ever.

I hope that we don't do this. Too many schools are getting away from good ol' grass.

You and I as well. Lets not forget this is a huge up front investment, with a depreciating asset. And you can bet Lafayette in black won't fade as the season wears on!

without saying any names let just say someone really close to the program. i don't think its a bad idea, it would look really good and we would be able to take advantage of our speed a lot more on turf

I don't see why we would get field turf, we don't have problems with the real grass. I could see schools up North doing it because of the snow and such but we don't really need it down here, it seems to always be in good shape. I'd rather see that money go to something else.

I think new turf would be nice if done right. UL at the 50 and LOUISIANA in the endzones in Black. The cost of it might be alot, but savings in paint and lawn care might just be better, plus the team can practice there without tearing up the field, Maybe even have a couple of high school games there as well. JMO

The red is off... the building won't be there ... the letters are not to scale ... or I should say the letters are not at the right angle ... but the turf IS a different shade of green every 5 yards like the Rutgers field.

I am somewhat of a football purist and feel that football is meant to be played on grass no matter the conditions, it's part of the game. Of course, I also believe that college football, like baseball, is meant to be played in the afternoon. I know that I am in the minority but to me that is the way it is supposed to be. With that being said, there are several advantages to field turf besides the obvious aesthetic and maintenance arguments. The fact that the field could be used for high school jamborees and games is an advantage. Any additional exposure to local high school athletes is very positive for recruiting. Also, laying field turf automatically gives the football team an additional practice field. This also provides the capability for the band to actually practice or do "walk thru's" on the field. I think one of the main factors in the decision will be in what type of field our opponents/conference mates have in the future. If the majority of our away games are on field turf than it may make sense to have it also for both the recruiting as well as the "familiarity" factor

Did they say what it was going to look like? i.e. writing in the endzones, writing on the 50 yd line? boy oh boy I hope that freaking pepper isn't on there, not to mention all of the text that's on fire.
