Lady Cajuns maintain mastery of Middle Tennessee. South Louisiana PublishingLOUISIANA La. — The beat goes on for Louisiana’s Lady Cajuns.
Coach Stefni Lotief’s squad combined 15 hits with a solid 1-2 punch at pitcher to sweep Middle Tennessee 10-0, 6-3 on Sunday to finish a four-game weekend conquest in the Sun Belt Conference opener for both teams.
The eighth and ninth straight wins of the season gave Louisiana (24-5, 4-0) its 15th and 16th victories over MT without a loss, as well as a ninth straight Sun Belt twinbill sweep and 18 league victories in a row.
In addition, the Lady Cajuns will be riding a 16-game home win streak when they return to action next weekend against Sun Belt foe New Mexico State.
Freshman Brittany Bryant wielded a big stick for the Cajuns in the opener, going 2-for-3 and driving in five runs, while Becky McMurtry scored three times and Summar Lapeyrouse and Crystal George each collected a pair of RBI.
Sophomore Brooke Mitchell improved to 11-4 with four innings of work, while Afton Thoms finished up the mercy rule-shortened opener with a perfect frame.
