There will be a day when we will know to take another bowl. You keep referring to some vague collation of circumstances that would justify such a gamble. I think you are wrong, there will either be a spot or there won't and there will be no gamble, unless we pull a Tech. IS that a verb now? Teching it?

The point is... At 7-0, next year... After possibly being 11-2 this year, we may be ranked and in a position to have that discussion. Right now, we aren't. We would be going all in on holding nothing. If we are gonna go all in, I'd rather be holding at least a full house. For now, let's win homecoming.

Bottom line is nothing short of a bcs bowl is better than the New Orleans bowl for us. This is the most important time in the schools history. I'll leave off the being left out part, but bringing a measly 5,000 to the Las Vegas bowl would be pulling in the opposite direction. Keep the interest up, transition into a successful basketball season and then softball/baseball season. The best thing for us right now is to have something that the casual fan is interested in and can/will attend every week of the year (minus summer).

I disagree that there will be "a day when we will know" and after 6 or 7 games there won't be a "known" spot.

Totally not true. BCS bowls are not the only bowls to broaden the scope of the Ragin Cajun program.

In the sunbelt, being top 25 with a chance to "bcs bust" is the day will know to hold out. Otherwise make sure are in the guaranteed tie-in

I'm only going to say this once, then accept the ridicule that I will receive from some of you. Let's look at the likely scenario for THIS season. We finish 10-2 and either unranked or ranked 24-25. Assuming we have not already accepted the NO Bowl, our choices would be NO on a Saturday night in late December, indoors against an eminently beatable CUSA team with a respectable record of 8-4 or 9-3, in front of 50-60000 fans, 85% of which are Cajun fans... OR ... in early January, outdoors against a very good and very ____ed off 13-0 NIU team which will be ranked around 15th, but shut out of a BCS bowl because Fresno was ranked 14th, in front of maybe 35K fans, of which about 70% will be Cajun fans.

This choice is a no-brainer. We go to New Orleans, because it is better to WIN a bowl against a respectable team than it is to possibly lose one to an excellent one who is not perceived as much better than we are. Recruiting is MUCH better when our coaches can say: We have WON three straight bowl games and our Conference Championship, rather than: We have BEEN to three straight bowl games and won our Conference Championship.

The only time another bowl would be more attractive than NOLA [this year] is if we could be matched up in Houston, indoors, against a ranked 9-3 Big XII or Big X team.

Fans in the stands are the #1 insurer of impressing nationally, win or lose.

Bowl trip expenditures have to be a part of the average fans annual household budget before hunting for far flung venues and competition.

Godaddy is also on a Sunday... 2nd to last bowl game of the season, day before national championship. By then, nobody really cares about that bowl, they are "bowled put" and are ready for the national championship. Also same weekend as NFL playoffs.

Tulane vs. the Gophers in Dallas. I pity the turnstiles. They'll have their bearings worn out from the use!! Wonder what the attendance would be. Of course, Gopher fans might want to head south for the winter.

Not true, how do you know what bowls will ask when? Don't worry about Lo-Tech, they have too many issues and I don't like comparing UL to them. If we keep getting asked to go to the NO Bowl after the 6th win, then I say that's too early to be able to judge what is best for the team and the program. It is tunnel vision, I can see it from here, I guess because I'm outside the state, but all of you need to step back and see how it's done with other programs. I know NO Bowl is fun and it's a great venue...etc. but at some point, this program needs to try and move up and playing tulame is lame, because not a single person (some exaggeration but not much) will care outside of Lafayette and maybe a couple in New Orleans. If the opportunity is there to play a better opponent, we need to at least say "hey, can we do this" for the better of the program. The NO Bowl will always want UL at the 6th win, because it makes money for THEM. They don't care about our interest, and they can wait if they want us that bad.

Again, not necessarily a better bowl, because we all know the only better bowls are BCS bowls. A better opponent, and at this time we don't know who that might be. That's where the wait part comes.

Tulane beat UNT on a last second field goal. If we play the Mean Green, it would be somewhat of a barometer on how we would compare to Tulane. I would prefer to play Rice than UNT as that would give us exposure in Houston. In reality it does not matter who we play. What is important is winning the league, getting a bowl game, and winning that game.

Todays printed NOLA TP, TooLame sold 15K plus for E Carolina, and had authorized 17k plus for Tulsa because of increased demand. Do not know what that is worth only what is printed. I saw some E Carolina shots and maybe they did have 15K in there.

Wow, are you serious? It does not matter who we play? I can see why the resistance from some here. Let's only play in the NO Bowl against Tulane or Marshall, because it's inside and we are so comfortable and a "w" is a "w" and that is glorious because it is the pinnacle of where UL can be.
